BMW Korea Future Foundation conducted a special educational donation activity targeting elementary school students in Gyeongbuk and Chungcheong areas who suffered flood damage due to heavy rain.

BMW Korea Future Foundation supported a creative science education program to help develop the ability to think about the future global environment in order to provide new fun learning to some elementary school students in areas affected by heavy rain in July.

The program was conducted from August 30 to September 8 for 238 students from five elementary schools in the Gyeongbuk and Chungcheong regions, starting with Yecheon-gun, Gyeongbuk, a flood-hit area, and including Cheongju, Gongju, and Mungyeong. Each school was offered one of the following programs: ‘Next Green To-Go’ and ‘Mobile Junior Campus’.

Students who participated in ‘Next Green To-Go’ experienced the eco-friendly features of lithium-ion batteries and electric vehicles by building their own electric vehicles using a miniature production kit of the BMW pure electric model iX. At the same time, I had time to think about the climate crisis and global warming phenomenon.

Students participating in the ‘Mobile Junior Campus’ explored the basic scientific principles of automobiles by experiencing various experiential facilities inside an 11.5-ton truck. Additionally, by working in groups to become aware of global environmental issues and build their own cars, they developed an eco-friendly mindset, a sense of cooperation, and leadership.

The BMW Korea Future Foundation plans to continue to visit various parts of the country and carry out various social contribution activities to encourage children’s natural interest in science and the environment.

Meanwhile, the Mobile Junior Campus, launched in November 2012, converted an 11.5-ton truck into a science laboratory and provides free, high-quality scientific and creative education by visiting various public interest events as well as areas lacking educational infrastructure. As of August 2023, the cumulative number of participating students will reach 91,993.
