[Sports Chosun Reporter Baek Ji-eun] Twice’s Nayeon won the ‘debt’ lawsuit.

On the 19th, the 13th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Eastern District Court (Chief Judge Choi Yong-ho) ruled that Mr. A, Nayeon’s mother’s ex-boyfriend, lost in the loan lawsuit filed against Nayeon and her mother.

Mr. A transferred 535,908,275 won to Nayeon over a 12-year period from August 2004 to June 2016. In addition, Nayeon and her mother used credit in Mr. A’s name for 6 years from March 2009 to February 2015. Paid 115,612,093 won by card.

Mr. A filed a lawsuit for 600 million won in loans in January last year, claiming that Nayeon’s mother had promised to repay the money when Nayeon debuted as a singer, but did not keep her promise. However, the court acknowledged that Mr. A had provided Nayeon with an amount equivalent to 600 million won over 12 years, but found that there was no evidence to recognize this as a loan.

The court said, “In light of the number, period, and amount of financial transactions, it is difficult to see that Mr. A and Nayeon agreed on their intention to return the money. Considering that Mr. A and Nayeon’s mother were in a romantic relationship at the time, it cannot be concluded that this was a loan. “There is no, and considering that the money was used for monthly rent, telecommunication expenses, loans, and tuition, it can be seen that it was paid for living expenses.”

He added, “Mr. A also claims that he ‘expected’ to receive the money back when Nayeon debuted as a singer, so it is difficult to view the entire amount paid as a loan.”

In relation to this, Nayeon’s agency, JYP Entertainment, said, “The ruling has already been finalized and concluded, so we have nothing to say as it has nothing to do with the artist’s entertainment activities. However, we will take firm legal action against any cases that defame or insult the artist through speculative posts, etc. “We will do it,” he said.
