Director Kim Jin-won, who directed the dramas ‘The Good Man Nowhere in the World’, ‘Just Between Lovers’, and ‘My Country’, returned with the Netflix series ‘Into Your Time’. Because it was an original work, there was no pressure. It was a work that started with a lot of pressure, but there are bound to be likes and dislikes.

Director Kim Jin-won made viewers hesitant to watch the movie with the shocking styling of the male protagonist, Ahn Hyo-seop. It seems like the distance between viewers and ‘Into Your Time’ has widened, but there is a reason for this. After many attempts, he has now completed Ahn Hyo-seop’s visual.

There is a story behind Ahn Hyo-seop’s styling. This can only be found out by watching episodes 1 to 12. Director Kim Jin-won expressed that it is a work that allows global viewers to watch all 12 episodes of ‘Into Your Time’ and then return to episode 1 to reconsider. If you know it, it means that it leaves a more lasting impression. Each viewer has different expectations, but in the end, it is ‘Into Your Time’ that will attract them like fate.

‘Into Your Time’, which was released in over 190 countries around the world through Netflix on September 8, tells the story of Jun-hee (played by Jeon Yeo-bin), who was missing her boyfriend who passed away a year ago, and as fate would have it, time travels to 1998 and finds her boyfriend. A mystery romance that unfolds after meeting Si-heon (played by Ahn Hyo-seop), who looks exactly like him, and his friend In-gyu (played by Kang Hoon).

As of September 11, ‘Into Your Time’ ranked first in Korea’s ‘Today’s TOP 10’. According to Flix Patrol, an online content service ranking site, ‘Into Your Time’ ranked 8th in the Netflix TV series category and was listed in ‘Today’s Top 10’ in 40 countries.

Director Kim Jin-won said, “I don’t use SNS at all. Personally, compared to other works, I received a lot of opinions and personnel contacts. Even the government contacted me. I wondered if this was the power of Netflix. I met Jae-il on ‘The Good Man Nowhere in the World.’ “There was a Korean who said to me, ‘You did a good job making it.’”

‘Into Your Time’ is a remake of the Taiwanese drama ‘Sanggyeonni’. In particular, ‘Sanggyeonni’ is so popular in Korea that the term ‘Sangchinja (a person who is crazy about Sanggyeonni)’ was coined. Director Kim Jin-won said, “I didn’t think I would change much while working on the script. We followed our resolution. The most difficult thing while filming was that it didn’t seem to work even if it looked the same as the original, and as we got further away from the original, even the fans who liked it so much were curious about what had changed. “I would do it, but I was worried about whether people would like it if it were different. I had to be careful about being the same as the original and also being careful about the parts that were different. It was difficult to strike that balance,”he confessed.

Director Kim Jin-won is the one who ordered Ahn Hyo-seop, Jeon Yeo-bin, and Kang Hoon not to watch the original work, ‘Sanggyeonni.’ He said, “Usually when you prepare a work, you look for references. When you think about how to express it, I tend to look at completely different works. Rather than looking at works with the same resolution, I look at works that don’t seem to match our work at all and come up with something like that. “I put in what I think the elements would like to see,” he explained.

Director Kim Jin-won said that he was chosen by the actors. After ‘Into Your Time’ was released, Ahn Hyo-seop’s makeup is becoming a hot topic on social media and online communities. Director Kim Jin-won said, “I told actor Ahn Hyo-seop on set, ‘I can’t believe I made you like this. If it’s revealed, you might be criticized socially.’ I also tested the styling several times. I changed my hairstyle and wore various types of wigs. 40 The most important thing in the concept was exhaustion. The main focus was that the sense of depth had to be shown on him. We did several tests, and Siheon looked dandy no matter what he did. He had to look tired, so I chose that makeup.”He said.

“There was also a formal reason. Actor Ahn Hyo-seop will play 4 roles per person. Considering the timing, each person will play 6 roles. So, I thought it would be good to clearly separate them visually and show them as a differentiator. 40 “Fans have expectations about Dae Si-heon’s visuals, and I can’t help but wonder how upset I must have been (about such a reaction). I’m upset, but if we don’t do that, it will be difficult to give us the level of understanding we want. A lot of our concerns were put into it,”he said.

When I told director Kim Jin-won that there was a reaction that Ahn Hyo-seop’s makeup made viewers backstep, he said, “I didn’t expect it at all. I also tried the Chuno makeup. When I saw that, I said to actor Ahn Hyo-seop, ‘Is it cool to do this?’ It was a bit half-joking, but serious. No matter what he did, he looked cool. I didn’t think he would backstep because of that appearance. If I had seen him in a photo, I would have backstepped, but if you follow Siheon’s emotions, you will find that actor Ahn Hyo-seop’s face is more heartbreaking than pretty. “I think you can feel it,” he said.

Director Kim Jin-won said, “I think that creating our own ending is a dream in the remake process. If we say that the ending is the same as the original, it feels like we didn’t do our best with the characters we created. Surprisingly, when the writer wrote the first draft of the ending section, “There was no major disagreement. The points that changed were Siheon’s occupation, detailed age, and dialogue. Everyone was satisfied with the ending the writer wrote,”he said, expressing satisfaction.

Director Kim Jin-won said, “After Min-joo misses the bus, he meets Si-heon, and Jun-hee also meets Si-heon. In the ending, doesn’t Jun-hee catch the bus? In a way, their fates are connected again. I thought the story could have its own completeness. I am satisfied. Jun-hee meets Si-heon on the bus and turns his head. This is a strange and memorable expression, lost in thought. At that time, when Seo Ji-won’s ‘Gather My Tears’ came on, I thought there was an emotional trigger that occurred without me knowing. “He explained.

Not only that, “When Si-heon and Jun-hee break up at the beach, the part where they say, ‘It doesn’t matter what time or place you are. We will definitely meet, because I will definitely go find you,’ may be a fateful attraction in the end. That’s how it is.”I think it’s the result of having no choice but to go. I didn’t intend to watch it for the Nth time, watching episodes 1 through 12 and then returning to Episode 1, but if you watch it to the end, you’ll find yourself rewatching the first part. I hope as many people as possible will watch it for the Nth time.”I hoped so.
