Fishing Issues in Eastern Thanalan Following FFXIV Patch 7.1
Square Enix has announced a disruption that is impacting players of Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) who venture into Eastern Thanalan. The problems primarily arise when engaging in fishing activities or attempting to walk on water in this region, following the recent 7.1 update. The resolution for this issue is expected to come with the anticipated patch 7.11, though a specific release date has yet to be announced.
The Nature of the Problem
Post-update, players have encountered significant obstacles when trying to fish in Eastern Thanalan. Reports indicate that fishing had become virtually impossible in the area. On November 13, 2024, Square Enix provided further insight, revealing that the issues stem from a collision detection malfunction affecting player interactions with the environment. The development team is actively working to rectify this, and the forthcoming graphics data updates are expected to restore access to these fishing locales.
Your Fishing Spots in Eastern Thanalan
There are four distinct fishing locations within Eastern Thanalan, each offering its own unique aquatic life:
- The Burning Wall
- North Drybone
- South Drybone
- Yugr’am River
All of these locations feature freshwater environments ideal for fishing. The Drybone areas cater to lower-level players, specifically those at level 15 and above. Notably, these fishing spots host exclusive fish species not found elsewhere in FFXIV, such as the rare Sundisc and Trader Eel. Furthermore, players can only acquire the coveted Gigantpole Minion through catches at The Burning Wall.
