HoYoVerse has unveiled fresh details through their latest drip marketing campaign for Honkai: Star Rail, introducing the next character arriving in the game: Fugue, a five-star evolution of Tingyun. This new character is set to be part of the 2.7 update, which will also feature a playable version of Penacony’s Sunday.
When Fugue makes her debut, she will be classified as a five-star Nihility unit, specializing in fire damage during her attacks. Like her previous form, she will still belong to the Foxian race, although her outfit and hairstyle have seen significant changes.

Tingyun, the original four-star character, has been a staple in Honkai: Star Rail since its initial release. While she’s consistently available as a four-star unit, acquiring her is often simplified when she appears as a highlighted character on a five-star banner. In her initial form, she inflicts lightning damage and represents the Harmony path, which focuses on supporting teammates.
It’s not uncommon for existing characters within Honkai: Star Rail to receive new iterations. The transformation from Tingyun to Fugue is a prime example of this trend. A previous instance involved Dan Heng evolving into Imbibitor Lunae. In these scenarios, the original character was a four-star unit, and the subsequent development became a five-star version, usually with distinct paths and elemental attributes.
Honkai: Star Rail is playable on PS5, PC, and mobile platforms, with Fugue debuting in the upcoming 2.7 update. Meanwhile, Tingyun remains a permanent fixture in the gacha system as a four-star character.
