Hashino Hints at New Unrevealed Archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio Game

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Katsura Hashino provided a sneak peek into some new Archetypes that will be featured in Metaphor: ReFantazio. He also shed light on their distinctive designs. [Thanks to ryokutya2089 for the information!]

Although Hashino refrained from revealing specific details regarding the new Archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio, he did mention that certain ones, such as Soul Hacker and Devil Summoner, draw inspiration from previous Atlus games. This serves as an enjoyable Easter egg for fans from the development team. As for the Archetypes’ appearances, they are crafted to convey the impression of a real human body beneath their armor and cloaks, resulting in a distinctly humanoid silhouette.

Unlike Personas, Archetypes function more like job systems that can be slightly personalized. Players will have the ability to allow Archetypes to inherit skills and capabilities from one another. Unlocking these unannounced Archetypes will appeal to those who enjoy engaging with bonus content, ultimately representing a complete mastery of the game. Finally, Hashino mentioned that rather than being overly difficult, Atlus’s titles are designed to strike a balance in difficulty that best showcases the battle system’s strengths.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is set to release on October 11, 2024, for PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. You can find our review of the game here.
