The newly released trailer for Double Dragon Revive has unveiled that both Marian and Yagyu Ranzo will be playable characters in the upcoming installment. Joining the familiar faces of Billy and Jimmy Lee, this adds an exciting twist for fans of the franchise.
Check out the trailer below, showcasing the gameplay mechanics for both new characters:
Initially portrayed as a damsel in distress in the original Double Dragon, Marian’s character has evolved significantly. This marks her return as a playable character after appearing in Double Dragon Gaiden, and she was also featured in River City Girls 2. In Double Dragon Revive, Marian showcases a dynamic moveset with rapid kicking techniques, including a midair dive kick and a rising kick capable of launching opponents into the air.
On the other hand, Yagyu Ranzo is a ninja who was introduced as a playable character after being defeated in Double Dragon III’s home versions. He has appeared in other titles like Double Dragon IV and Double Dragon Gaiden. Yagyu’s moveset in Double Dragon Revive emphasizes sword combat, complete with swift evasion techniques and teleportation abilities displayed in the trailer. He also harnesses elemental attacks such as fire breath and lightning magic.
As the latest addition to the iconic side-scrolling brawl series, Double Dragon Revive maintains the classic gameplay mechanics while introducing visually stunning 3D graphics. Currently, the game is confirmed for two-player cooperative play, though the inclusion of Marian and Yagyu raises questions about potential additional player options. Yuke’s, renowned for their wrestling game expertise, is developing the title, while it will be published by Arc System Works.
Scheduled for release in 2025, Double Dragon Revive will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
