Exciting Update for Mobile Stardew Valley: Experimental Multiplayer Now Available
Eric Barone, widely known as “Concerned Ape,” has made an exciting announcement regarding the mobile version of Stardew Valley. Players can now explore a new experimental multiplayer mode by updating to version 1.6 of the game. Although it’s under development and functionality cannot be guaranteed, this update opens the door to cooperative farming on mobile devices.
How to Access Experimental Multiplayer
To enable the experimental multiplayer feature, players must input a specific cheat code. The official Stardew Valley website provides detailed instructions, including an illustrative screenshot to guide players through the process.
Cheat Code Instructions
To unlock the co-op option in the main menu, follow these steps:
- Tap the leaves in the following order: ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← →
- Press the “?” button located in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Alternatively, you can visualize the tapping sequence as follows: tap the upper right leaf twice, the lower left leaf twice, then the upper left leaf, followed by the lower right leaf, the upper left leaf again, the lower left leaf, and finally the question mark icon.
Setting Up Multiplayer
For the multiplayer experience to function smoothly, the host player must prepare their farm and cabins beforehand. Additionally, they need to retrieve their device’s IP address from the Wi-Fi or internet settings, which the other players will use to connect. It’s essential that all participating users are connected to the same Wi-Fi network or hotspot—use of a cellular data connection is discouraged for optimal performance. Mobile players can connect either with others on mobile devices or with PC users, enhancing the multiplayer flexibility.
Enhanced Multiplayer Capacity
The version 1.6 update has not only introduced experimental multiplayer options but has also expanded the multiplayer capacity to accommodate up to eight players across supported platforms, allowing for a more communal farming experience.
Availability of Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley remains accessible on various platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, mobile devices, and the PlayStation Vita, ensuring a broad audience can participate in the charming farming simulation.
