Steam Cloud Save Feature Now Available for Silent Hill 2 on PC

Konami, in collaboration with Bloober Team, has revealed that Silent Hill 2 for PC now features support for Steam Cloud Saves. To take advantage of this exciting update, players must download the patch released on October 25, 2024, which brings the game to version 1.05. This update introduces additional changes beyond just cloud saving.

After installing the Silent Hill 2 patch on PC, Steam Cloud Saves will activate as soon as you launch the game. Consequently, the game will default to utilizing cloud-stored save files. Konami and Bloober have advised players who prefer preserving their local save files to remember the directory where these are located and ensure they back them up. These local saves can typically be found in the “AppData\Local\SilentHill2\Saved\SaveGames” folder within the user profile on your PC.

This update is not solely about cloud functionality; it also serves as a critical hotfix for the PlayStation 5 edition. The previous patch, 1.04, created a barrier preventing players from advancing through the Labyrinth if they had previously saved in that location. The new version, 1.05, enables those players to resume their journey.

Regular updates like these are commonplace for the game. For instance, in early October 2024, a patch was implemented to resolve an issue where James would occasionally become “stuck” in various scenarios.

Currently, Silent Hill 2 is playable on both PS5 and PC, with the exclusive rights for PS5 expected to expire in approximately one year.
