Nintendo has rolled out a new firmware update for the Switch console, addressing prior issues regarding compatibility and connectivity with the GameCube adapter and controller. Patch version 19.0.1 was implemented on October 28, 2024, resolving these concerns.
While the specifics of the GameCube controller and adapter issues were not detailed by Nintendo, they indicated that there were instances where the console failed to detect the controller when connected. Alongside these GameCube-related fixes, this latest update also tackles significant network functionality issues, including problems with downloading while the console is in sleep mode.
Furthermore, as anticipated, this update includes enhancements aimed at “general system stability.” For comprehensive details, you can check out the full patch notes for the Nintendo Switch version 19.0.1 on the Nintendo America customer support page.
The last significant firmware update prior to this one was version 18.1.0, which was released on June 10, 2024. This earlier version saw the removal of Twitter (now known as X) integration from the Switch console. Notably, on November 13, 2023, Sony also discontinued Twitter support for their PS4 and PS5 systems.
The Nintendo Switch is now available globally, and the firmware update that upgrades the console to version 19.0.1 is currently deployed worldwide.
