Nintendo has unveiled a new initiative: the Nintendo Switch Online Playtest Program, which is exclusively available to subscribers of the highest-tier Expansion Pack. To be eligible, participants must have maintained their subscription at this tier by 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET on October 9, 2024. Chosen applicants will have the chance to explore an unannounced feature during the testing phase.
In addition to having an active Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscription, there are other stipulations for applicants. Interested individuals must be at least 18 years old and reside in one of the following countries: France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, the UK, or the USA. Applications can be submitted at the official Nintendo site until October 15, 2024. However, early closure is possible if the response is overwhelming.
Nintendo provided insights into the selection method for candidates. For participants located outside of Japan, selection will operate on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. Conversely, those in Japan will enter a lottery for selection. Up to 10,000 users may be accepted into the testing group, which is slated to commence on October 23, 2024, and will conclude on November 5, 2024.
The Nintendo Switch Online service, alongside its Expansion Pack tier, is accessible on Nintendo Switch consoles, with applications for the Playtest Program currently ongoing ahead of the testing period starting October 23, 2024.
