Square Enix has revealed that in the upcoming Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, players will have the option to choose from two new difficulty levels specific to the remake. It’s important to note that these levels are exclusive to New Game Plus save files, meaning they can’t be selected when starting a new game.
In their announcement, Square Enix highlighted where players can find these unlockable difficulty settings and confirmed their titles. The new options are “Expert” and “Romancing.” The Expert mode provides a stiffer challenge than the existing “Hard” mode, with the latter reflecting the original game’s difficulty. The “Romancing”mode is touted as the ultimate challenge available. Players choosing this mode cannot switch back to an easier setting if they find it too challenging.
The update also included some advice. Square Enix suggested that players could switch to the Expert difficulty after they have completed their first playthrough of Romancing SaGa 2. On the other hand, accessing the Romancing mode likely requires a New Game Plus save file obtained from several completed runs.
Here’s the complete announcement:
The “Romancing”difficulty, however, is so tough that you would need to prepare the strongest possible save data. Please note that “Expert”and “Romancing”cannot be selected partway through your playthrough, and cannot be reselected if you decide to lower the difficulty. pic.twitter.com/cXI9vBT5x0
