[Daily Car Reporter Park Kyung-soo] Bloomberg News reported on the 9th that “the Chinese government is restricting the export of urea water.” Urea is a compound used to produce fertilizer and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) for diesel engines.

According to this report, the Chinese government took this measure as the price of urea in China soared.

Some major Chinese fertilizer manufacturers have stopped signing new export contracts since early this month following a government order, according to Bloomberg citing sources familiar with the matter.

In an interview with Bloomberg, they asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to do so, but they said that the current local situation is such that only the export of urea water is prohibited.

China’s decision to ask some fertilizer producers to stop exporting urea is also having an impact on other countries.

The analysis is that there is a high possibility of limiting supply from major buyers such as India and Korea and increasing costs for farmers. Meanwhile, China is the world’s largest supplier of urea water.
