Diesel engines from Daedong, Korea’s leading agricultural machinery company, will be installed on Doosan Bobcat heavy equipment and enter the U.S. market.

Daedong announced on the 5th that it signed a contract with Doosan Bobcat North America to supply multi-cylinder diesel engines worth 70 billion won. This is 4.96% of the previous year’s consolidated sales. The basic contract period is 5 years from September 2028 to September 2028, and the supplied models are 1.2L and 1.8L diesel engines. Based on this contract, we plan to expand the engine models supplied to Doosan Bobcat.

Daedong began mass production of single-cylinder diesel engines in 1966 for the first time as a domestic agricultural machinery company. Since 1983, Daedong has developed multi-cylinder engines with its own technology and is currently producing and supplying diesel engines ranging from 1.2 liters to 3.8 liters directly to domestic and overseas markets.

This contract is expected to increase product awareness and reliability in the industrial engine market, and will further accelerate the expansion of new businesses. In addition, we plan to continue to secure stable engine suppliers such as Doosan Bobcat and expand investment in performance and quality improvement to strengthen the competitiveness of the engine business.

Daedong invested 20 billion won to build a large agricultural machinery lineup and expand its engine business. In 2021, Daedong became the first domestic agricultural machinery company to develop a 3.8-liter diesel engine (4JTA) capable of output in the 100-140 horsepower range, and will use this engine in its large tractor HX model. began to be mounted.

Afterwards, to increase the competitiveness of small tractors and construction equipment products, the company began developing new engines and developed a new 1.2-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 20 horsepower early this year. This engine boasts excellent engine performance with a maximum torque of about 16%, torque rise of 2.8 times, and fuel consumption rate of 4% improved compared to the previous model.

In addition, it was installed on Daedong’s 20-30 horsepower agricultural machinery products, which are gaining great popularity in overseas markets such as North America and Europe, and verification of product quality and performance was completed, leading to a supply contract with Doosan Bobcat.

Kim Sang-il, head of Daedong Engine Business Division, said, “There is a high demand for eco-friendly and high-performance diesel engines in various industries such as construction equipment, industrial equipment, and agricultural equipment.” He added, “Daedong will continue to build on its engine technology and production capacity based on its long history. “We plan to expand our engine business,” he said.
