[Guangzhou Motor Show] Large number of eco-friendly lineups unveiled including BYD, Yangwang, Ocean, Denza, etc.

BYD presented a diverse lineup by setting up booths for all of BYD’s eco-friendly brands, including Yangwang, Ocean, Denza, Fangchengbao, and Dynasty, at the 21st Guangzhou International Motor Show held in China. Premium brand Yangwang’s e⁴ concept car and supercar platform were introduced, and the Ocean series’ new pure electric SUV ‘Sea Lion 07 EV’ was unveiled.

At this motor show, premium brand Yangwang’s SUV U8 and supercar U9 were displayed, and at the same time, the e⁴ concept car and supercar platform were unveiled. The e⁴ concept car is a new concept vehicle that breaks away from traditional steering and braking systems through ‘3-in-1 technology’ that integrates driving, braking, and steering functions into one. In addition, the supercar platform unveiled for the first time through this event was created based on Yang Wang’s special architecture that was launched earlier this year. Additionally, the interior of the U9 was also revealed for the first time.

BYD unveiled the ‘Sea Lion 07 EV’, the first pure electric mid-size SUV in the Ocean series, at this motor show. It contains the design philosophy of the Ocean series, reminiscent of marine animals. It is based on rear-wheel or four-wheel drive and is equipped with CTB (Cell-To-Body) technology, iTAC (Intelligent Torque Control) technology, and BYD DiSus intelligent body control technology. The tires are equipped with a double wishbone suspension at the front and a 5-link suspension at the rear.

Currently, the Ocean series boasts a solid lineup consisting of popular models such as Dolphin and Seal. Among the Ocean series vehicles to be produced in the future, BYD plans to consist of SUVs under the Sea Lion line and sedans under the Seal line.

BYD’s luxury brand Denza introduced the ‘D9 PREMIER’, the first 4-seater edition of the D9, along with several cutting-edge technologies. The exterior of the D9 Premier uses a galaxy dual-tone, a combination of two colors, and the interior is characterized by a plating technique registered as an intangible cultural heritage. 22 DEVIALET audio channels are built-in, and an 8-inch screen is mounted on the armrest of the rear seat.

The high-speed NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) function, an autonomous driving assistance system, is scheduled to be released in December, followed by the urban NOA function in the first quarter of next year. The D9 Premier vehicle with high-speed NOA functionality is scheduled to be delivered to consumers in December. Additionally, various features such as Sentry Mode, Light Map Mode, and Commute Mode are scheduled to be released next year.

BYD’s professional personalized brand Fangcheng Bao also introduced BAO 5 at this Guangzhou Motor Show. The Bao 5, a super hybrid hardcore SUV recently launched in China, is equipped with BYD’s core technologies such as the hybrid off-road platform DMO (Dual Mode Off-road) and the hydraulic body control system DiSus-P. As an off-road vehicle, it is equipped with a blade battery that further improves stability with a 5-stage protection structure and a ring-type dual protection system. The price of Bao 5 starts at 289,800 yuan (about 52.16 million won).

Meanwhile, BYD achieved its highest ever eco-friendly car sales for six consecutive months in October 2023. This year, more than 2.37 million eco-friendly cars were sold worldwide, with cumulative production exceeding 5.7 million units. BYD, which is making progress in the eco-friendly car market based on these innovative technologies, is realizing its vision of lowering the global temperature by 1℃.
