Mercedes-Benz Korea holds a series of expert and student training events to strengthen maintenance technology competitiveness

Mercedes-Benz Korea Co., Ltd. (CEO and President Matthias Weitl) is holding the technician technology competition ‘Korea Tech Master (hereinafter referred to as Tech Master)’ and the maintenance expert training training ‘Ausbildung’ and AET (It was announced on the 18th that the launch ceremony for ‘Automotive Electric Traineeship’ was held from the 14th to the 15th at the Mercedes-Benz Korea Training Academy located in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Tech Master, now in its 7th year, has been held every other year since 2007 to further strengthen Mercedes-Benz’s differentiated service technology and expertise. Last May, 969 employees of official service centers across the country participated and went through the preliminary round, and the final 40 people selected participated and competed in the final competition held on the 15th.

In this year’s competition, the ‘EQ Service Advisor’ and ‘EQ Technician’ categories were newly established in line with the electric vehicle era, and on this day’s competition, competency evaluation and team evaluation were conducted in a total of 10 categories. Technicians who participated in the final competition competed with the common goal of providing the best customer satisfaction, and as a result, this year’s competition ended with 10 experts, including Shin Hyeong-seon of KCC Auto Dobong Service Center, receiving awards in the diagnostic technician category.

Meanwhile, starting with the launching ceremony on the 14th, trainees participating in Ausbildung and AET will experience various processes for repairing electric vehicles, etc., so that they can grow into the next generation of professional automobile maintenance personnel. Mercedes-Benz Korea has produced a total of 410 participating trainees over the past 17 years, including 25 students from the 7th class of Ausbildung and 15 students from the 16th class of AET.

Trainees at Ausbildung, a German-style work-study talent development program introduced by Mercedes-Benz Korea in 2017, join an official Mercedes-Benz dealer, complete three years of field work and regular university education, and receive a bachelor’s degree from a domestic partner university. You will also receive Mercedes-Benz Korea training certification and a certificate from the German Federal Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz Korea has been training maintenance personnel starting with ‘AMT (Automotive Mechatronic Traineeship)’ in 2006, and in line with the electric vehicle era, it was reorganized into AET last year and has been selecting maintenance experts. Trainees participating in AET complete and evaluate a total of 20 training courses to obtain maintenance-related qualifications recognized by the global Mercedes-Benz network, and depending on the results, also receive employment opportunities in the domestic Mercedes-Benz official network.

The two-day event was attended by executives and employees of national service centers who advanced to the finals of the Tech Master competition, students participating in the training, trainers, and faculty from partner universities, as well as Mercedes-Benz Korea CEO Matthias Vitl and General Vice President of Customer Service Division Thilo Grossman. Technicians who participated in the competition developed their capabilities, participating trainees received motivation for their careers, and each event was held to lead to improvement in the quality of Mercedes-Benz Korea’s customer service.
