The new BMW R 1300 GS is completely different with the slogan ‘GS at the next level’. The new 1,300cc 2-cylinder boxer engine is more compact, has improved transmission maintenance, and has a new camshaft. Like the old model, it uses a shift cam system that changes valve stroke timing, producing a maximum output of 145 horsepower at 7,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Naturally, it is the most powerful engine in the GS series ever. There are four driving modes: Rain, Road, Eco, and Dynamic. Enduro mode can be set as an option for more serious off-road driving.

ABS Pro, MSR, DBC (Dynamic Brake Assist), HSC, DTC (Dynamic Traction Control), and DCC (Dynamic Cruise Control) are installed as standard, along with ACC (Active Cruise Control), FCW (Forward Collision Warning), and SWW (Lane Change). Warning) and DSA (electronic dynamic suspension adjust) can be added as options. In particular, FCW is expected to significantly improve rider safety by including brake intervention. In the case of domestically released models, it is highly likely that most electronic options will be applied. A completely redesigned metal shell main frame and aluminum rear frame have been applied, and the new EVO Telelever suspension has secured 20 mm more travel front and rear, and can electronically adjust damping and preload or change ride height. The feature that increases footholding by lowering the height by 30mm when the speed decreases is a welcome technology for shorter riders. In addition, the vehicle weight was reduced by 12 kg compared to the previous model, resulting in a lighter steering feel, excellent stability, and higher cornering limits.

The headlight design, which has received a lot of negative comments since the release of the official photo, uses matrix LED with DRL, and Headlight Pro with adaptive turning lights is available as an option. When selected, the cornering direction is illuminated first to improve night driving safety, and the new LED turn signal lights are integrated with the hand guard. The rear was changed to a tail lamp integrated product that was first introduced in the S 1000 RR, making it cleaner and preventing unnecessary cost increases. In addition, a lightweight lithium-ion battery, USB socket and 12V socket, 6.5-inch TFT screen, heated grip, and smart key are included as standard.

As an option, you can choose a seat of various heights to suit each rider’s body type and a 30mm higher handlebar riser. The graphics consist of Triple Black, GS Trophy, and Option 719 Tramontana. Expectations are high as to whether the new R 1300 GS will be recognized as an excellent model that continues its long history as it has strengthened all areas, including design, engine, electronic equipment, and convenience equipment. It is scheduled to be released in Korea in December.
