[M Today Reporter Lee Jeong-geun] The most common time for travelers to make rental car reservations was 10 am. It was found that 22% of people made reservations on the day of travel or a day before, meaning that there were many impromptu trips.

T Map Mobility announced on the 11th that it has released the ‘T Map Trend Diary Rental Car Edition’, which analyzes TMAP rental car service data from January to July of this year.

The most visited overseas travel destination using TMAP rental cars was Japan. Fukuoka (23%) was the most popular, while Tokyo (13%) and Okinawa (3%) also ranked in the top five cities. It is analyzed that the economic burden has been reduced due to the low yen phenomenon and the convenience such as short flight times has also been an attractive factor for impromptu travelers. Guam and Saipan also accounted for 22% and 8%, respectively.

Among domestic inland travel destinations excluding Seoul and the metropolitan area, Busan (15.7%) was the most popular. This was followed by Gwangju (10.1%), Yeosu (6%), Gyeongju (3.5%), and Mokpo (3%).

The rental car use period of 3 days and 2 nights accounted for the largest proportion at 36%, and the most popular car model was the Avante. People in their 40s visited the carnival a lot. Customers in their 40s accounted for 40% of TMAP rental car users.

The time it took from the rental car reservation date to the trip varied greatly. There were many impromptu travelers who made reservations on the day of travel (10%) and a day before (12%), but there were also so-called ‘extreme J-type’ planning users who made reservations a year in advance.

This ‘Rental Car Edition’ is the second trend diary following the ‘Agency Edition’ last March. T Map Mobility plans to continue publishing diaries on various mobility services such as kickboards, cargo, and parking. The T Map Trend Diary can be found on T Map Mobility’s official Instagram and blog.
