Spotted partial changes to the K5 released in October…longened tail lamps
The Kia midsize sedan K5 facelift test car was newly spotted in Korea. The K5 facelift will appear in Korea next month by changing the front and rear designs and enhancing marketability based on the existing design, which was highly complete.
At the front, the headlamp design stands out along with changes to the bumper, including the hexagonal pattern grille. It is impressive that the ‘L’ shaped lighting has been added to the existing ‘Z’ shaped daytime running lights. Recently, Kia has applied vertical headlamps to SUVs through facelifts and full changes, but the K5 does not appear to have deviated much from its existing form.
At the rear, both ends of the dotted tail lamps are extended downward. The dynamism of the rear bumper was emphasized by making the diffuser and dual muffler garnish that improve air flow more sporty.
In addition, a 12.3-inch curved display update is expected. By applying ccNC, the next-generation infotainment system, a new UI that displays various information in a more unified manner and an upgrade to the latest version of the HUD are expected.
Despite the shrinking mid-size sedan market, the K5 continues to sell well at around 2,000 units per month. Competitive model Sonata appears to have followed closely with the launch of The Edge, but it is still popular among young people.
The K5 facelift is scheduled to be released in October. Together with Hyundai Motor Company’s midsize sedan Sonata The Edge, it is expected to bring a new excitement to the midsize sedan market.
