[M Today Reporter Lee Se-min] The expected electric vehicle to replace the Stinger, which was popular as Kia’s flagship sports car, has been revealed and is receiving a lot of attention.

‘New York Mammoth’, a YouTuber specializing in predictions for new domestic cars, posted a prediction chart for Kia’s new electric vehicle on Instagram.

This electric vehicle, known by the internal code name ‘GT1’, is Hyundai Motor Group’s first electric vehicle to be equipped with eM, a next-generation electric vehicle platform developed by Hyundai Motor Group following E-GMP, and is known to be named EV8.

There are rumors that the company will discontinue the currently released K8 model and release a new electric vehicle model, EV8, but accurate information has not yet been released.

More detailed information about the Kia EV8 GT1 model is expected to be revealed at the Kia EV Day event scheduled for next month.

Looking at the EV8 projections, the daytime running lights with Kia’s Star Map signature lighting character are manufactured in a very thin form, giving a futuristic feel.

In addition, the boundary line between the bonnet and grill disappears, creating an electric car feel, and as a successor to the Stinger, the very sporty design attracts attention.

In terms of battery capacity, the new EV8’s battery is expected to boast the largest capacity of any Kia model ever at 113.2 kWh, and the driving range on a single charge is expected to be 700 to 800 km.

For reference, Kia’s recently released flagship electric SUV model, EV9, is equipped with a 99.8kWh battery pack, and the largest capacity of the models currently released in the global automobile market is the 107.8kWh battery of the Mercedes-Benz EQS, which runs 770km based on WLTP.

Not only the battery but also the power seems to be incredible. The EV8 is expected to produce a maximum output of 612 horsepower by combining a 200 kW front-wheel motor and a 250 kW rear-wheel motor, which is more powerful than the EV6 GT’s 585 horsepower.

The base model of the EV8 will be equipped with a single rear-wheel motor with 160 kW (218 hp), while the mid-range model is expected to have a 160 kW dual motor (320 kW and 435 hp).
