[My Daily = Reporter Seung-gil Lee] Actress Han So-hee, who received strong protests from Japanese netizens for uploading a photo of Dr. Ahn Jung-geun, shared her thoughts.

We met actress Han So-hee, who appeared in the Netflix original series ‘Gyeongseong Creature’. Han So-hee revealed the story behind her work in an interview held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 15th.

‘Gyeongseong Creature’ is a work that tells the story of two young people whose only goal was survival, confronting a monster born of greed in the spring of 1945, when the darkness of the era was deepest. In the play, Han So-hee played the role of Yoon Chae-ok, a toddler known for finding dead people.

During the interview on this day, an incident was mentioned where Han So-hee uploaded a photo of Dr. Ahn Jung-geun while leaving a message about her work, and received protests from Japanese netizens. Han So-hee said, “There was no other reason for posting the photo. While driving, she stopped by a place where there was a photo of Ahn Jung-geun. “Later, when she tried to post something about the drama, she used that photo she had taken before,” she began.

Han So-hee continued, “They say there were a lot of malicious comments in Japanese, but I don’t know Japanese well, so I didn’t know the reaction. However, some Japanese fans…. It seemed like the person mustered up the courage to leave a comment (in Korean). The content was ‘sad’. So I just responded to that post by saying, “It’s sad, but what can I do? It’s true.”I had no idea that there would be such a huge response afterwards. I simply responded to the friend’s beautiful courage in leaving a comment in Korean. Of course, there were many DMs saying, “That opinion is not the opinion of all Japanese people.” “I was grateful to those people, and I was also grateful that they apologized,” he confessed.

Han So-hee also said, “What I said was not a taboo word. All I can think is, ‘Why is this?’ “I know that someone is angry, and I understand it all, but I played a character called Chae-ok in a script that mixed non-fiction and fiction, and I thought that it would be okay to admit that we should recognize each other,” he said.

Finally, Han So-hee said, “I am grateful to have participated in this work. It’s something to be proud of. Because I am Korean. I am not a person who has sinned. But why do you talk like a person who has committed a crime? He added, “I am honest about that.”
