Director Kang Je-gyu, who directed ‘1947 Boston’, told of Im Si-wan’s hard work.

Director Kang Je-gyu mentioned the synchronization between Im Si-wan and Seo Yun-bok, the real-life character he played, in a meeting held after the press screening of the movie ‘1947 Boston’ (directed by Kang Je-gyu) held at the Lotte Cinema Konkuk University entrance in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul on September 11.

Seo Yun-bok, played by Im Si-wan, is a national representative of the 1947 Boston Marathon and dreams of becoming the next Son Ki-jeong. Although he has never properly learned to run due to a difficult family situation, he is an indomitable marathoner who sweeps various competitions with his violence and evil.

In order to play Seo Yun-bok, Im Si-wan worked hard to lower his body fat percentage to 6%. Regarding this, coach Kang Je-gyu said, “In reality, Seo Yun-bok had a small physique, but had an advantageous physique as a marathoner. He was a marathoner who had innate muscles, like those of a horse.”

He then hinted, “Actor (Im Si-wan) worked hard to create a body similar to that, and he basically had that tendency as well,” raising expectations from prospective audiences.

Meanwhile, the movie ‘1947 Boston’, which will be released on September 27, is a story about the challenges and thrilling journey of marathon runners to participate in international competitions wearing the Taegeuk symbol for the first time after liberation in 1947.
