‘1947 Boston’ Ha Jung-woo “Two shots with Im Si-wan, I feel my age”

On the afternoon of the 11th, a press conference for the movie ‘1947 Boston’ was held at the Lotte Cinema Konkuk University entrance in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Director Kang Je-gyu, actors Ha Jung-woo, Im Si-wan, and Kim Sang-ho attended the event.

The movie ‘1947 Boston’ vividly depicts the passionate moments leading up to the 1936 Berlin Olympics gold medalist Son Ki-jeong (played by Ha Jung-woo) participating in the 1947 Boston Marathon with his student Seo Yun-bok (played by Im Si-wan), who was promising as the next Son Ki-jeong.

In the play, Ha Jung-woo plays the role of coach Son Ki-jeong, a gold medalist at the 1936 Berlin Olympics and the man who led Boston’s miracle in 1947, and exudes charismatic leadership. Ha Jung-woo has shown immersive acting in various works based on true stories, such as the movies ‘The Chaser’, ‘National Representative’, ‘War on Crime: The Golden Age of Bad Guys’, and ‘Assassination’.

On this day, Ha Jung-woo said, “I felt my age in the two-shot with actor Im Si-wan,”and “I felt like I was getting older.”

He said, “I felt a special sense of responsibility for playing teacher Son Ki-jeong. I kept thinking about how I felt when the teacher ran without being able to wear the Taegeuk symbol, and that I would definitely wear the Taegeuk mark afterward. As an actor, I don’t want to forget the teacher’s feelings. “He said,” he explained.

When asked about the pressure of playing a real person, he said, “I discussed a lot with the director. I knew Mr. Son Ki-jeong well and wanted to act.”

Ha Jung-woo said, “The presence of teacher Son Ki-jeong was evident in his acting, actions, and words. It was like that in every take. (I was so immersed in it) that when I stood on the podium without the Taegeuk symbol at the Berlin Olympics, I actually didn’t lose my footing. It wasn’t a filming set. “It felt like a real experience,” he said.

He added, “It was a solemnity I had never felt before.”

Meanwhile, ‘1947 Boston’ is scheduled to be released today, September 27th.
