Actor Im Si-wan cited diet and exercise as the efforts he made to play the role of a marathoner.

On the 11th, the preview of the movie ‘1947 Boston (directed by Kang Je-gyu)’ was held at the Lotte Cinema Konkuk University entrance in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.

‘1947 Boston’, which will be released on the 27th, is a film that tells the story of the challenges and thrilling journey of marathon runners to participate in international competitions wearing the Taegeuk symbol for the first time after liberation in 1947.

In the movie, Ha Jung-woo and Im Si-wan played real-life marathon heroes Son Ki-jeong and Seo Yun-bok. In the play, Im Si-wan impresses with his physique and marathon skills reminiscent of a real marathon runner.

Im Si-wan said, “I thought that the very act of being a real person was a task that should not be offended by that person. So I thought I should tackle it with a sense of responsibility.”He added, “Seo Yun-bok was the first player to compete in an international competition wearing the Taegeuk symbol. In this work, Although I played a certain character, I thought I should also do it with the determination to wear the Taegeuk symbol and represent the country. I worked like that until the filming was completed. Since it was a running role, the running had to be seen professionally. I received professional training two to three months in advance. “I learned. Until the end, I continued to learn and receive training from the coach during filming and during filming,” he said.

He continued, “The work that took the most time in the process of preparing for the appearance was, of course, diet and exercise. From preparation to completion, I always ate chicken breast and salad. I also had to exercise every day. These muscles are strong. “I tried to maintain muscle bulge by exercising in between cuts to make it look visible,”he said. “It wasn’t my goal, but while exercising, I tried to resemble Seo Yun-bok’s appearance as much as possible, and my body fat percentage was 6%. That wasn’t my goal. “I remember being amazed when I saw the 6% number for the first time in my life as I tried to look like him,” he said with satisfaction.

Director Kang Je-gyu also revealed the reason for casting Im Si-wan in the role of Seo Yun-bok. Coach Kang said, “I thought that Seo Yun-bok and Im Si-wan should look similar in appearance. Seo Yun-bok also has a petite body, but his lower body is longer than other players. Although he is petite, he has the physique that is advantageous for a marathon runner. Look and face, “He was a born marathoner, and his muscles felt like those of a horse. So we put a lot of effort into that, too,” he explained.

Lastly, Im Si-wan said, “Through this movie, I became deeply aware of the charm of marathons and developed a healthy hobby that I still enjoy to this day. In that sense, I am even more glad to see the release of ‘1947 Boston.’ I would appreciate it if you watch it and think it is a good movie.”He requested.
