On the afternoon of the 11th, a press conference for the movie ‘1947 Boston’ was held at the Lotte Cinema Konkuk University entrance in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Director Kang Je-gyu, actors Ha Jung-woo, Im Si-wan, and Kim Sang-ho attended the event.

The movie ‘1947 Boston’ vividly depicts the passionate moments leading up to the 1936 Berlin Olympics gold medalist Son Ki-jeong (played by Ha Jung-woo) participating in the 1947 Boston Marathon with his student Seo Yun-bok (played by Im Si-wan), who was promising as the next Son Ki-jeong.

In the play, Im Si-wan plays the role of Seo Yun-bok, an indomitable marathoner who dreams of becoming the next Son Ki-jeong and a national representative for the 1947 Boston Marathon, and delivers a passionate performance that is harmoniously integrated with the character.

Regarding this, Im Si-wan said, “More than anything, I went into filming with the thought that I should not become someone to Seo Yun-bok. Although it was only acting, I felt that I also represented Seo Yun-bok, just as he ran for the national team wearing the Taegeuk symbol.”revealed.

When asked about the process of embodying the character, Siwan said, “To create the appearance of a marathoner, I dieted and exercised until the moment filming ended,”and “I lived on chicken breast and salad.”

At the same time, he said, “I didn’t stop exercising between cuts to maintain the tone of my muscles,”and “It wasn’t my intention, but as I created and maintained the appearance of the character, my body fat reached the 6% range.”

When asked about his acting chemistry with Ha Jung-woo, who played Son Ki-jeong in the play, he said, “This is the first time we have worked together in this work,”and added, “Just as we played the teacher and student in the work, we relied on him a lot in real life.”

He added, “He knows a lot more about not only movies but the world than I do. I learned a lot.”

Meanwhile, ‘1947 Boston’ is scheduled to be released on the 27th.
