The production video released this time adds meaning as it provides a glimpse into the process of the heart-warming journey of the first national marathoners being reproduced on screen. In 1947, immediately after liberation, a story that was more cinematic than the films of Son Ki-jeong, Seo Yun-bok, and Nam Seung-ryong, who ran and ran again to promote Korean independence to the world, was reborn under the direction of director Kang Je-gyu. Director Kang Je-gyu, who is trusted by actors and production staff, is said to be “the director who created masterpieces of period pieces such as ‘Taegukgi’ and ‘My Way’” (actor Ha Jung-woo) and “an experienced master director” (CEO Jang Won-seok). Through ‘Boston’, the veteran director demonstrates his true potential to the fullest.

As the film is based on a true story, CEO Jang Won-seok of the production company said that synchronization with real people was the most important consideration. After considering “an actor who can portray the character ‘Son Ki-jeong’ with weight and flexibility at the same time,”he selected ‘Son Ki-jeong’ from appearance to personality. He attracted attention by revealing that he first made an offer to Ha Jung-woo, who resembles him. Im Si-wan, who plays the role of Seo Yun-bok, who dreams of becoming the next Son Ki-jeong, is said to have worked hard to be seen as a real person by completing 60-70% of the training volume of an actual marathon runner, and his passionate performance, which is integrated with the character, stimulates curiosity. Lastly, in accordance with director Kang Je-gyu’s intention to “pay the most attention to reality,”the art and CG teams’ struggles to accurately recreate Seoul and Boston in 1947 attract attention. In addition to finding old buildings all over the country and capturing them on camera, about 4 months of work was carried out from pre-preparation to filming, centered in Melbourne, Australia, to replicate the Boston Marathon course. The vivid visuals that the production team put so much effort into completing will lead audiences to that glorious day in 1947.

The movie ‘1947 Boston’, which is raising expectations by releasing a production video, will be available in theaters nationwide on the 27th.
