[My Daily = Reporter Kwak Myeong-dong] Director Kang Je-gyu’s movie ‘1947 Boston’ has revealed three viewing points that will captivate Chuseok theaters.

#One. The hot true story of Korea’s first national marathon runners!

The first challenge recorded under our name

‘1947 Boston’ is a story about the challenges and thrilling journey of marathon runners to participate in international competitions wearing the Taegeuk symbol for the first time after liberation in 1947.

Korean marathon legend ‘Son Ki-jeong’ (Ha Jung-woo), who won the gold medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by setting a new world record of 2 hours, 29 minutes and 19 seconds, and another hero who is not well known to the public, ‘Seo Yun-bok’ (Im Si-wan), competed in the Boston Marathon. It contains the process of their great challenge.

Immediately after liberation, when everything was difficult and confusing, the story of the national team players who did not give up and overcame the difficult journey to go to Boston to announce Korea’s independence to the world wearing the Taegeuk symbol on their chest for the first time will not be lost to the audience living in 2023. We plan to convey our determination and passionate courage.

In addition, based on historical events that are more like a movie than a movie, it shows not only the excitement and thrilling catharsis of a sports movie, but also the power of a solid drama, and is expected to captivate movie theaters as the only movie that the whole family can enjoy together this Chuseok.

#2. Ha Jung-woo & Im Si-wan’s priest chemistry challenged real-life characters with 100% synchronization

Many actors, including Ha Jung-woo, Im Si-wan, and Kim Sang-ho, show off their flawless acting skills. Ha Jung-woo, who plays the role of director Son Ki-jeong, a gold medalist at the 1936 Berlin Olympics and who trains juniors, leads the center of the play and shows off various aspects, from charismatic leadership to deeply moving acting.

In addition, Im Si-wan, who predicted a strong priest chemistry with Ha Jung-woo, transforms into Seo Yun-bok, a marathoner who dreams of becoming the next ‘Son Ki-jeong’, heightening the sense of immersion by appearing as one with a real person, from the body type of a marathoner to the strong mental strength and fighting spirit.

Kim Sang-ho, who plays the role of ‘Baek Nam-hyeon’, a financial guarantor who helps the national team in Boston, and brings pleasant vitality to the play with his unique acting, and popular actor Park Eun-bin make a special appearance to add to the welcome, as well as talented actor Park Hyo-joo, Oh Hee-jun, who played the role of licorice, and Choi Gyu-hwan, who added weight, and veteran actors Seo Jeong-yeon and Jeong Young-ju. Trustworthy actors come together to double the fun of the play.

#3. Reply 1947! Those days, those glorious moments, vividly brought to life on the screen!

The final viewing point is that you can vividly see on the screen the glorious day of 1947, when we took on the first international competition under our name.

Based on historical research, it not only perfectly represents Seoul and Boston in the 1940s, but also completes a realistic marathon course in an Australian location, leading audiences to the glorious day of 1947 with a scale and realism reminiscent of an actual competition.

Director Kang Je-gyu of ‘Shiri’ and ‘Taegukgi’ is taking the megaphone and gathering attention, and with his excellent directing skills, he is once again drawing attention by heralding the birth of a well-made masterpiece.

In addition, we received advice from national marathoner Lee Bong-ju, the late 1950 Boston Marathon winner Ham Ki-yong, and Kwon Eun-ju, who set a new Korean women’s marathon record, to further enhance the realism of the race scenes.

Released on September 27th.
