Blackpink Jisoo in ‘Dr. Chun’?… Director “50% fan sentiment + 50% schedule” (X’s on-site) [Comprehensive]
(Xports News Reporter Kim Yu-jin) Director Kim Seong-sik of ‘Dr. Chun’s Exorcism Lab’ mentioned Blackpink Jisoo, who made a special appearance in the movie.
On the afternoon of the 19th, a press preview of the movie ‘Dr. Chun’s Exorcism Lab: Secrets of the Snow Scene’ (hereinafter referred to as ‘Dr. Chun’) was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Kim Seong-sik and actors Kang Dong-won, Heo Jun-ho, Lee Som, Lee Dong-hwi, Kim Jong-soo, and Park So-yi attended the event.
‘Dr. Cheon’ is a film that begins when Dr. Cheon (Kang Dong-won), a fake exorcist who does not believe in ghosts but has ghost-like insight, is commissioned to handle a powerful case he has never experienced before.
Director Kim Seong-sik, who has built a solid career as an assistant director on Bong Joon-ho’s ‘Parasite’, Park Chan-wook’s ‘Decision to Break Up’, and Hong Won-chan’s ‘Deliver Us from Evil’, made his commercial film debut through ‘Dr..
In particular, Ji Soo’s surprise appearance as a fairy in the middle of ‘Dr. Cheon’ attracts attention.
Director Kim Seong-sik said, “I was looking for an actress who would fit the image of a fairy, and the thought of Ji-soo came to mind. I’ve been watching her since she appeared in ‘Snowdrop.’”He then confessed, “I think I have about 50% fan sentiment. Also (fortunately) I was able to do 50% because Jisoo’s schedule matched,”which brought laughter to the scene.
In addition, in ‘Dr. Chun’, Park Myung-hoon and Lee Jeong-eun, who appeared in director Kim’s film while he was an assistant director on ‘Parasite’, appear as a wealthy couple, helping to increase concentration in the early stages of the play.
Director Kim mentioned the scene where Park Myung-hoon and Lee Jeong-eun appear and said, “The script had a setting from the beginning that (the home of the couple requesting an exorcism from Dr. Chun) was a rich house, and when I was thinking about who I should work with, I decided to go to the most underground world (in ‘Parasite’). “I wanted to see what it would be like when the people who were there were happy. I received permission from director Bong Joon-ho, and I was happy to be able to film it,” he said.
When asked if he received any advice from coach Bong Joon-ho or Park Chan-wook, he honestly confessed, “I actually talk more about soccer with coach Bong Joon-ho than about movies. I’m worried a lot about overseas soccer and Tottenham,”causing laughter. He also added, “I was told by director Park Chan-wook to ‘make it well.’”
Director Kim, who recalled the experience of being in charge of directing a work in which actor Kang Dong-won appeared as the main character in his first debut film, said, “I should have captured the subject of Kang Dong-won better, but I think I couldn’t capture it properly because my vessel was a little small. I will continue to work with senior Kang Dong-won in the future.””I hope I have many opportunities to film with, ” he said, revealing the new director’s trembling aspirations.
‘Dr. Cheon’s Exorcism Lab: Secrets of the Snow Scenery’ will be released on the 27th.
