‘Deadman’, a new crime drama with Cho Jin-woong, Kim Hee-ae, and Lee Soo-kyung [D:On-site]

Cho Jin-woong, Kim Hee-ae, and Lee Soo-kyung completed a thrilling crime drama based on the theme of ‘Pants Boss’.

On the morning of the 19th, at the Megabox Seongsu branch in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, director Ha Jun-won and actors Cho Jin-woong, Kim Hee-ae, and Lee Soo-kyung attended the movie ‘Deadman’ A production briefing session was held.

‘Deadman’ is about an ace of the so-called barge business who makes money by living up to his name, and after being falsely accused of embezzling 100 billion won and living as a ‘dead man’, he tracks down people who are intertwined with just one name to get back the life that was stolen from them. This is a story about starting out.

Director Ha Jun-won said about the subject matter of Boss Baji, “Everyone is born with a name, and live with responsibility for that name. However, we witness people who do not take responsibility for their names. When a problem occurred, he felt a sense of social issues as a director and writer after seeing several incidents where the people responsible for the problem did not take responsibility and instead took their place in the name of an agent. I wanted to cover this with a story. “After thinking about what keywords there would be if it were released in a popular way, I thought it would be harmonious for President Baji to bring up the topic,” he said.

Director Ha Jun-won said that he spent five years reporting on the film to complete it, saying, “I had to cover the transactions of people, but it was difficult to do so.” He went to a foreign country and accessed actual events that were happening, which was dangerous reporting. As the reporting period became longer, it took 5 years. He said, “I tried to make an enjoyable movie based on a large amount of material.”

Cho Jin-woong played the role of Lee Man-jae, a man who was falsely accused overnight and became a dead man in The Legend of Bajijanggye. Cho Jin-woong said, “At first, I thought it was a well-made story. But when I realized it was real, I thought this world was a scary place. If you carefully understand the reality of this story, you will become aware that you should never touch dark places. I felt that the director was meticulous when designing the scenario, and it gave the impression that he did a good job of explaining the categories of the story through the characters. He revealed the reason for appearing, saying, “It was a very attractive script.”

He continued, “For my character, situations change rapidly. So, when building a character, I had a general throughline, but I tried to throw myself 100% into the situation. I wanted to expose the various emotions felt there as if they were raw. Also, when I read the script, I thought that this emotion should not flow consistently,” he said, explaining how he acted with that in mind.

Kim Hee-ae plays the role of Mrs. Shim, the best consultant in politics. Director Ha Jun-won said, “Actually, it is a great honor to work with Kim Hee-ae on her debut film. I once showed the script to director Bong Joon-ho, and he said he could only think of foreign actors. I gave you the script a few months after finishing “The World of the Married.” I asked for just one week and rewrote the character of Mrs. Shim. “It was an honor to get a quick response,” she said, expressing her feelings about working with Kim Hee-ae.

Kim Hee-ae said, “Mrs. Shim is such an attractive person that it is a role that any actress would covet. “Mrs. Shim was very precious to me,” he said. “To play Mrs. Shim, I needed to transform externally as well. She made me look different with art, hair, etc. The most exciting and enjoyable task for an actor is to look as different as possible from previous characters. She expressed satisfaction with her acting transformation, saying, “That’s why she was happy.”

He then emphasized, “You will see whether I will be a villain or Lee Man-jae’s strong supporter in this movie.”

Lee Soo-kyung persistently pursues Lee Man-jae’s whereabouts and says, “Lee Man-jae is alive.”She played the role of channel operator Gong Hee-joo. Lee Soo-kyung said, “Hee-joo died after being falsely accused because his father was involved in the Lee Man-jae case. He wants to uncover the truth. He is a friend who runs a YouTube channel that tracks down Lee Man-jae. She is a very persistent and hot woman. Gong Hee-joo introduced her character by saying, “After meeting Lee Man-jae, her personality changes.”

Regarding her feelings about working with Cho Jin-woong and Kim Hee-ae, Lee Soo-kyung said, “When I was attending acting school, I wrote that the actress I respected was Kim Hee-ae. After meeting her in person and filming her, I thought she was a really cool actress. Senior Cho Jin-woong said, “I really like ‘Deep-Rooted Tree’ so much that I once made it my cell phone wallpaper.”

Director Ha Jun-won said, “On the surface, it appears to be a straight-line structure of finding the real culprit to clear the name, but if you look closely, the three characters help and use each other like cogs according to their own interests. “When designing the story, if this is an orchestra, I thought of Man-jae Lee as an instrument that leads the flow of the play and maximizes the amplitude of emotions, with Ms. Shim as the conductor and Soo-kyung Lee as the audience,” he said, adding that the three people said, It made me look forward to the acting.
