[SPOTV News = Reporter Jeong Hye-won] Hwasa of Mamamoo, who was accused by Hakkinyeon of being “more harmful than Barbary Man”, was acquitted of charges of indecency in public performance.

On the 26th of last month, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul decided not to send Hwasa, who was accused by the Student Parents’ Human Rights Protection Coalition (hereinafter referred to as “Haksinyeon”), on charges of performance obscenity, to no charges.

Regarding the reason for the decision not to send the case, the police explained, “We summoned Hwasa as a defendant, investigated the content of the performance and its development process, and comprehensively reviewed the statements of those involved, so it is difficult to admit to criminal charges.”

Last May, Hwasa went on stage at the Sungkyunkwan University festival to film the tvN entertainment program ‘Dance Singer Wandering Troupe’. While singing her hit song ‘Don’t Give Me’, Hwasa made a motion of touching a certain body part, and this was spread online through a fancam taken by her fans, sparking an ‘obscenity controversy’..

In response, Hak In Yeon filed a complaint to the police, claiming that Hwasa’s performance was reminiscent of perverted sexual relations and caused shame in the public who witnessed it. In addition, the representative of the Student Parents’ Human Rights Protection Coalition, who reported Hwasa, said on CBS’ ‘Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show’ on the 11th of last month, “Barbary Man is punished under the Misdemeanor Punishment Act. In Hwasa’s case, a larger and unspecified number of the public saw it, so in some ways, Barbary Man was a barbarian. He also claimed, “It has a greater negative impact than the man.”

Although the police acquitted Hwasa of charges, it is reported that Hak In-yeon will object and submit a request for reconsideration of the investigation.

Recently, Hwasa appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Seong Si-kyung’ and honestly confessed her feelings regarding the controversy.

Hwasa said, “I went on MAMAMOO’s American tour, and the day I arrived in the U.S., there were a lot of KakaoTalk messages. I thought, ‘Something has happened,’ and I really prayed and looked at KakaoTalk.”She added, “I was worried about my performance on stage. “I thought, ‘Oh, that’s right,’ but the level of malicious comments was really (strong). I don’t usually dwell on malicious comments, but this time, it was a bit like that,” he confessed.

He continued, “It was my first performance in New York, so I calmed down and performed as if nothing had happened. But as soon as I finished the performance, I burst into tears. When I arrived at the hotel and went up the elevator with the members, I was wearing a hat and the tears poured down my face.””I fell like that. I think I cried the most this year,” he recalled.

Also, “I got a call from Psy in the early morning. At that time, I was a little depressed and worried, thinking, ‘What kind of song should I sing from now on?’ and my future became vague. I hadn’t signed a contract with P-Nation at the time, but he sent me a good song and said it was a good song. “The song was ‘I Love My Body’,” he said. “After listening to the song, I laughed for the first time during the American tour. I was having a hard time because of the obscenity controversy, but the title itself was very cheerful. After hearing that song, I felt a lot better. “It’s a song that helped me find my original intention,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hwasa signed an exclusive contract with P-Nation, headed by PSY, last June, and released her new song ‘I Love My Body’ on the 6th of last month.
