Im Si-wan, who became Seo Yun-bok, “I exercise every day while eating chicken breast and salad”

Actor Im Si-wan became Seo Yun-bok, a national representative for the 1947 Boston Marathon, on the screen.

Actor Ha Jung-woo, who played the 1936 Berlin Olympic gold medalist Son Ki-jeong, said at the press screening of the movie ‘1947 Boston’ (directed by Kang Je-gyu) held at the entrance of Lotte Cinema Konkuk University in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 11th, “Im Si-wan looked like a real athlete,”and “Seo Yun-bok.””I think the teacher will like it if he sees it,” he said.

‘1947 Boston’, which will be released on the 27th, depicts the challenges and journey of marathon runners to participate in international competitions wearing the Taegeuk symbol for the first time since liberation in 1947. Director Kang Je-gyu, who directed ‘Taegukgi’ (2004), ‘My Way’ (2011), and ‘Jangsu Store’ (2015), took the lead.

Im Si-wan said, “Seo Yun-bok was the first player to wear the Taegeuk symbol and go to an international competition,” and added, “I also prepared until filming was completed with the mindset of representing my real country.”

In order to recreate the strong and muscular physique of marathoner Seo Yun-bok in the movie, Im Si-wan followed a thorough diet management. Even after cranking it up, he was so fascinated by running that he participated in a 10km marathon.

He said, “I managed my diet and exercised at the same time. I ate chicken breast and salad from before the filming until the end. I also exercised every day. In order to express strong muscles, I exercised throughout the filming.”

Regarding achieving 6% body fat, Im Si-wan said, “It wasn’t my goal,”and added, “As I tried to look similar to Seo Yun-bok, I saw the number 6% for the first time in my life.”He continued by saying, “I was amazed to see the first number I encountered when I measured InBody.”
