The movie features a touching race with marathon hero Son Ki-jeong and another marathon history player Seo Yun-bok as the main characters. This is the story of those who achieved the glory of the Boston Games with an unwavering spirit during a chaotic time when it was difficult to participate in the marathon as a ‘Republic of Korea’. Ha Jung-woo played the role of Son Ki-jeong, and Im Si-wan played the role of Seo Yun-bok. In addition, Bae Seong-woo, Kim Sang-ho, and Park Eun-bin also participated. It is also the first new film in 8 years by director Kang Je-gyu of ‘Shiri’ and ‘Taegukgi’. Director Kang Je-gyu said, “I hope this film can give you hope and courage.” It contains simple emotions during the 108-minute running time.

Regarding why he is particularly interested in historical facts, director Kang Je-gyu said, “Among the movies I’ve made, many of them mainly deal with times that have passed quite a long time ago. I started to wonder why I was like that, and I don’t know the exact turning point, but at some point, I started thinking that way.”After filming ‘Taegukgi’, I prepared a science fiction film, but in the end, that film fell through and I ended up doing another film. Hollywood people filmed too many stories about the future. In the end, it was about taking a good look at the past we lived in, “I think I thought this was about looking into the future. As a result, I became more interested in precious footprints,” he explained.

The reason for choosing marathon as the topic was, “Regarding running, I fell in love with running and marathon after watching the movie ‘Chariots of Fire.’ I thought that I should make a running movie someday. As a result, I naturally became interested in teachers Son Ki-jeong and Seo Yun-bok. “Those things piled up and became the background for this movie,” he added.

Ha Jung-woo and Im Si-wan, who transformed into marathon heroes, boast a high level of synchronization in appearance. Director Kang Je-gyu also expressed confidence in the synchronization several times, saying, “I wanted to look similar in appearance.” In particular, Siwan performs a marathon scene from the middle of the movie, doubling the immersion and emotion in the movie with his physical and running skills like a real marathoner. Coach Kang Je-gyu said, “I thought that Seo Yun-bok and Im Si-wan should look similar in appearance. Seo Yun-bok also has a petite body, but his lower body is longer than other players. Although he has a petite physique, he has the physique that is advantageous for a marathon runner. Look and face, “The muscles he had, like the muscles of a horse, were born marathon runners. So we put in a lot of effort to do the same.”

Im Si-wan said, “I thought that the very act of being a real person was a task that should not be offended by that person. So I thought I should tackle it with a sense of responsibility.” He added, “Seo Yun-bok was the first player to compete in an international competition wearing the Taegeuk symbol. In this work, Although I played a certain character, I also thought that I had to do it with the determination to wear the Taegeuk symbol and represent the country. I continued to do so until filming was completed. Since it was a running role, the running had to be seen professionally. I received professional training two to three months in advance. “I learned. Until the end, I continued to learn and receive training from the coach during filming and during filming,” he explained.

Thanks to this, I was able to record a body fat percentage of 6% for the first time in my life. Im Si-wan said, “The things I spent the most time on while physically preparing were, of course, diet and exercise. From preparation to completion, I always ate chicken breast and salad. I also had to exercise every day. These muscles were strong. “I tried to maintain muscle bulge by exercising in between cuts to look good,” he said. “It wasn’t my goal, but while exercising, I tried to resemble Seo Yun-bok’s appearance as much as possible, and my body fat percentage was 6%. That was my goal. “No. I remember being amazed when I saw the 6% number for the first time in my life as I tried to look like him.”

Ha Jung-woo also said that he was with Son Ki-jeong with his heart. He said, “I think this is my first time in the role of a director or a senior. My first thought while watching the movie was that I was older when I was caught on screen with Im Si-wan. Other than that, there was nothing special. In fact, teacher Son Ki-jeong led this team. “I took the lead on a journey to Boston, and I think it was a sense of responsibility. With only that thought in mind, as an actor, I went into filming with the same mindset as Mr. Son Ki-jeong,” he said. “When I take on a character, I start with my body, mind, and soul, and in the case of the role of Mr. Son Ki-jeong,” he said. Because I didn’t know anything, I consulted with the director at first and talked a lot about what kind of person he was. The director also told me a lot. From the beginning of acting and action, the person who caught my eye was Mr. Son Ki-jeong. What kind of mind and emotions does the teacher have? I had that thought in mind for each take. As those thoughts built up one by one, I couldn’t easily step off my feet when the Berlin Olympic podium scene appeared in the prologue scene of the first scene. My heart was heavy because it felt like I was experiencing it in real life, not a movie set. All this while. “For the first time, I felt a solemnity that I had never felt before.”

The most famous scene in ‘1947 Boston’ is, of course, the Boston Marathon. Although most of the scenes are marathon scenes from the middle part, it is quite exciting. The sweat that Siwan shed until the end result was captured on screen. Ha Jung-woo said, “Siwan worked so hard and really looked like an athlete. I watched the hours he spent preparing for his role in this movie. When filming the competition scene, I naturally got emotional. I wanted to support him with all my heart. Most of the competition. was filmed near Melbourne. Because it was filmed in the latter half of the movie, I was very emotional during the scene. I got to see the finished product for the first time today, and I think Seo Yun-bok will really like it because actor Im Si-wan did an excellent job.”

Im Si-wan said, “When I cross the finish line, I always try not to waste every moment whenever I work on any work or project. I worked as hard as I could with the mindset that this moment would never come back.”He added, “Through this movie, I realized the charm of a marathon. “I got to know it deeply, and it created a healthy hobby that I still enjoy to this day. In that sense, I feel even more welcome about the release of ‘1947 Boston.’ I would be grateful if you watched it and thought it was a good movie,”he said.

Kim Sang-ho, who plays Baek Nam-hyeon, a financial guarantor in the United States, is a scene stealer and evokes the atmosphere of the movie. He said, “I’m curious how you viewed it. I cried again.”He added, “It actually helped that there wasn’t a lot of data (about the real person). I thought about what kind of person he was as an individual. I tried not to make it a caricature. If there were any parts that were caricatured, “If anything, it was entirely my idea,” he said, expressing his sense of responsibility towards a real person. He also added, “I think the number of marathoners will increase after our movie is released. In fact, all three people lived long lives.”

Ha Jung-woo, a part of ‘1947 Boston’, quickly hit the Chuseok theaters following the summer ‘Unofficial Operation’. It will be released on the same day as ‘Dr. Cheon’s Exorcism Lab: Secrets of the Snow Scenery’ and ‘Cobweb’, creating friendly competition. Ha Jung-woo said, “I cannot be involved in the release date, and it seems that it will be released in a short period of time this summer and Chuseok. This is not the first time I have faced this situation while filming and releasing a movie, so I decided to accept it well and stick to the schedule. “It’s just that the absolute number of audiences has not returned to what it used to be, so just like last summer and this Chuseok, everyone can work together to create good synergy. I hope our movie will create that kind of synergy like the director said. Audiences will come to the theater like they used to. “I just hope that it will contribute and contribute in some small way to the culture of people coming and watching movies. I hope that ‘Dr. Cheon’s Exorcism Lab: Secret of the Snow Scene’ and ‘The Spider’s Nest’ will all do well and that we will have a good time,” he said.

Lastly, director Kang Je-gyu said, “I used the expression ‘the past is the future,’ but it is difficult for us to live these days and you may think that we are bringing up stories from the past. However, there are many precious and wonderful stories contained in history. We must live well and “Are we on the right path? There are many things we can learn from history. You may be indifferent or not interested, but I hope that ‘1947 Boston’ will give young audiences strength and courage to look back on the past and live their lives.”did.
