[Interview] Jeong Bo-min of ‘The Wedding Battle’ “Romance chemistry with Heo Nam-joon? 100 points”

Actor Jeong Bo-min (26), who has a lovely smile, said that he grew a lot more after watching ‘The Wedding Battle’.

In the KBS2 Monday-Tuesday drama ‘The Wedding Battle’ (written by Ha Hao-jin, directed by Hwang Seung-gi and Kim Su-jin), which ended last month, Jeong Bo-min played the role of Maeng Sam-sun, who leads a double life as Hwa-rok, the youngest of Dr. Maeng’s three daughters and a sensationally popular novel writer. He was active.

‘Marriage Battle’ is a matchmaking comic melodrama in which a Joseon Dynasty sire and a cheongsang widow meet and engage in a grand wedding battle for a virgin miner (a term used to refer to an old maid and an old bachelor in the Joseon Dynasty). It gained popularity by maintaining the top spot in Monday-Tuesday dramas.

Jeong Bo-min said, “I can’t send ‘The Wedding Battle’. This is a work that I really put a lot of love into. “I still have a special affection for the character, so I still can’t get over it,” he said. “It was my first time going to an awards ceremony and it was an honor. “It’s unfortunate that I didn’t receive the award, but I hope to work harder in the future and receive the Rookie of the Year Award,” he said with a smile.

Jeong Bo-min, who joined the production through an audition, said, “When I received the script, I was able to do it comfortably because there were similar parts to it that made me think, ‘This is me.’ “I think that part worked well,” he said.

“Synchro with Samsoon? Some people say, ‘That’s who you are,’ while others say, ‘That’s not what you look like.’ I realized that I really have many different selves. However, there are some parts where I think the synchronization rate is 100%. I think the honesty that is revealed in their facial expressions is really similar. Like Samsoon, I also tend to forget things quickly. “Once we confirm our feelings for each other, we tend to go straight ahead.”

Jeong Bo-min expressed his gratitude, saying that he was able to better immerse himself in his role thanks to the good people he met in ‘The Wedding Battle.’

Regarding Heo Nam-joon, who plays Soon-gu, who plays the role of Romance in the play, he said, “It’s really funny. It’s completely different from Sungu’s character. At first he seems like a simpleton, but when you talk to him, he becomes humorous. He was the mood maker on set. His older brother was fun, so we had fun talking about his acting. Before filming the scene, we often called each other and thought about it together. “I was helped by being able to talk about my brother’s emotions and mine and express them well,” he said.

He continued, “When I first met again when I was washing my hair, I thought about what kind of timing it would be fun to say a line or turn around with Shindo as he passes by quickly, so it came out even more fun. Little God lived well thanks to his brother. I also looked for fans’ reactions, and what sticks in my mind is that they said, ‘We look like Nick Judy.’ My chemistry with my brother is 100 points. “There was nothing lacking,” he said, expressing his gratitude.

She said she would like to continue her good relationship with Shin Jung-hye, who plays the role of Maeng Ha-na, and Park Ji-won, who plays Maeng Doo-ri, who co-starred as the three sisters.

He said, “This was my first time meeting him, and since we were the same age, it was very comfortable and nice. The Meng Sisters were more comfortable people than anyone else. I was able to talk about even small concerns. While staying in the countryside, we talked a lot about various things and ate a lot of delicious food. It’s really the same as the character. Shinhye has a Hana personality, and Jiwon has a Duri personality. “I actually have a younger brother, and she learned about her youngest son’s sadness while playing ‘The Wedding Battle,’” she said jokingly.

He added, “I also really liked Rowoon oppa and Jo Yi-hyeon. There is also a scene that came to life because Rowoon oppa gave him an idea. There was a scene where we rehearsed like a play within a play, and my brother gave me a ‘thumbs up’ point, which made the scene much more interesting. Jo Yi-hyun is also a really small and precious cute little fish. “He is a friend who is more pure and cute than anyone else.”

Jeong Bo-min, who debuted in the web drama ‘Triple Some’ in 2019, is gradually building up his filmography by appearing in dramas such as ‘National Wife’, ‘Doctor Royer’, ‘Golden Marriage, Joseon Marriage Ban’, and ‘Oasis’.

Now in his 6th year as an actor, he said, “It really feels like it was just yesterday. He started with his web drama at the age of 23. He had a difficult time, but he never regretted it. I wondered what else I would do other than this. He never thought of any other field. As with all actors, when you audition and get rejected, you have to manage your mentality well even in the final stage, but there are times when it’s difficult. “At times like that, I worry about whether this is the right path, but even when I despair and fall apart, I tend to forget it quickly.”

He continued, “I’m trying to get into the habit of always praising myself. Live with the taste of accomplishment. Even though I’m not the type to plan, I write down what I have to do that day and try to do it. It seems like there is a stigma to living while feeling small and small accomplishments. “I think I’m trying to love myself,” he said, revealing his own mental management method.

He also said, “There was a time when acting became easier after filming ‘National Wife.’ After that, he went through a slump again and seems to have achieved good synergy again with ‘Wedding Battle’. ‘National Wife’ and ‘Wedding Battle’ were helpful to me in terms of acting. ‘National Team Wife’ received a lot of help from her seniors. Because it was a daily drama, filming was done almost every day and there was a lot of dialogue. Even on my days off, I was busy memorizing lines. At some point, I became that character and acted. I think I gave the most authentic acting in ‘The Wedding Battle’. I felt very satisfied while filming. “The staff were great and the atmosphere at our site was really good, so I had fun going to work every time I went,” he added.
