Disney Plus, which took the OTT drama market by storm with last year’s

<Killers’ Shopping Mall>, produced twice a week and consisting of a total of 6 parts, is an adaptation of the original novel, <Murderer’s Shopping Mall> by author Kang Ji-young. It was originally produced as a novel of the same name, but as it neared its final release, it was changed to the current title. A series of works by author Kang have recently been attracting attention in the drama industry, with another novel,

Although it is only a short volume of about 176 pages, it has been utilized to its fullest potential to captivate readers by maximizing the twists and turns based on a simple sentence structure and an implicit yet fast-paced development. The fact that it is a relatively short 6-part series for a recently released OTT series is also related to this. First of all, <Killers’ Shopping Mall> got off to a good start, amplifying subscribers’ curiosity and expectations about the next episode.

Unidentified killers who raided my nephew Jeong Ji-an

<Killers’ shopping mall> Episode 1 begins with an unconventional development from the opening scene. A house in an empty field was attacked by a drone and was reduced to rubble. On the bridge in the distance, sniper Lee Seong-jo (Seo Hyun-woo) is aiming at Jeong Ji-an (Kim Hye-jun) and his friend Bae Jeong-min (Park Ji-bin). And dozens of heavily armed killers are approaching this house.

At a desperate moment when even the slightest movement in the house could become a target for killers, Jian, who showed his wit, discovered a sniper rifle hidden under the sofa and immediately launched a counterattack with it. And the screen moves to the past. Why on earth are so many killers targeting Ji-an, a seemingly ordinary college student?

The key figure who leads <Killers’ Shopping Mall> is his nephew, Jeong Ji-an. Twenty-year-old college student Ji-an suddenly receives a call from the police one day, informing her that her uncle Jeong Jin-man has died. To Jian, who lost both his grandmother and parents when he was young and was left alone, his uncle Jin-man was a stranger and full of questions.

My uncle used to sell weapons to killers.

Ji-an, who was organizing Jin-man’s belongings with his childhood friend Jeong-min, who was helping out at the shopping mall his uncle ran, received a text message on his old cell phone informing him that 18.7 billion won had been deposited. Surprised by this, the two decide to access the shopping mall site administrator page and look for any traces.

During this process, a so-called dark web page called Murder Help was discovered, and Jian and Jeongmin learned that their uncle Jinman had been in the business of selling various weapons to killers. And those who received a PC chat text message urging delivery delays responded, “My uncle is dead, I will return your money.”

In response, the mysterious person said, “Jinman is dead?” “Then you’ll die too,” he replied with a sharp reply. Afterwards, the house comes under machine gun attack from an unidentified drone. And Jian enters a desperate struggle for survival.

How can Jian escape from this crisis?

The main character faces death from the beginning.

<Killers’ Shopping Mall> attracts attention with a development that is different from the thrillers we have seen before. This is because the story begins with the main protagonist already dead. It raises curiosity if actor Lee Dong-wook, who was supposed to appear throughout the six episodes, was killed. Because there is a twist that will be revealed in the future, the drama puts Kim Hye-jun, another lead actor, at the center of the story and brings out past stories one by one.

In real life, Jeong Ji-an must overcome the crisis of death alone, but his uncle Jin-man, who anticipated this in advance, trained his nephew Ji-an in various ways early on, and the results are gradually introduced throughout the play. Kim Hye-jun, who is no different from her main lead, convincingly depicts Jian’s turbulent past story along with her child actor Ahn Se-bin, who played her younger self.

Lee Seong-jo, who appeared in only a few scenes but appeared as a vicious sniper and killer from the beginning, So Min-hye (played by Geum Hae-na), who also appeared as a questionable character, and Mr. Kim (played by Kim Jun-bae), another killer who has been through many hardships, are making appearances one after another. <Killers’ shopping mall> It made me look forward to the remaining 4 episodes.

Disney Plus, which had been sluggish since entering Korea, finally gained an OTT aspect through ‘Casino’ and ‘Moving’. It remains to be seen whether
