Former director Justin sharply pointed out the characteristics of K content.

At the press conference for ‘Korean American Special Exhibition: Korean Diaspora’ held at the KNN Theater in Haeundae-gu, Busan on the afternoon of the 6th, director Justin Jeon was asked about the characteristics of K content that he feels as a Korean-American artist, and said, “Hollywood movies focus on plot and try to give big twists. “Korean movies seem to value emotions and philosophical messages,” he said.

He said, “I think what the movie is trying to say is more important than the cinematic structure,” and “I think that’s why it resonates with people more and resonates with them.” “The suction power is strong,” he said.

He continued, “The reason I like Steven Yeun’s ‘Angry Men’ is because it completely bridges the differences between East and West. “It was truly an incredible feat,” he said. “It felt like it had brought together both Eastern and Western audiences in one bowl. “It’s an aspect that can’t be seen even in American movies,” he explained.

‘Minari’ director Lee Isaac Chung, who was also present, said, “Korean movies are a little more subtle. He added, “While American movies show it blatantly, Korean movies show it very subtly, although it is difficult to explain.”

‘Korean American Special Exhibition: Korean Diaspora’. As an opportunity to look into the world of work by Korean-American filmmakers active in Hollywood, films such as ‘Minari’, ‘Burning’, ‘Search’, ‘Zamojaya’, ‘Columbus’, and ‘Fast Lives’ were invited.
