[SPOTV News = Reporter Kim Hyun-rok] Major pop music organizations have come forward to demand severe punishment for malicious content creators such as ‘Taldeok Camp’.

The Korea Management Association, Korea Entertainment Producers Association, Korea Music Label Industry Association, and Korea Music Contents Association (in alphabetical order) issued a statement on the 11th and announced this.

We earnestly appeal that malicious content creators such as ‘Taldeok Camp’ who continuously harass pop culture artists on YouTube and SNS are severely punished.

They said, “Malicious content creators are producing and distributing numerous videos that ridicule or insult artists based on provocative topics without verifying the facts. They take advantage of the fact that they are anonymous to create malicious controversy and keep their profits. In order to maximize the suffering of others, they are using it as food. The public who has accessed the content believes the information and criticizes the artist, which can further lead to a collective cyberbullying phenomenon. This not only causes damage to the artist and the agency, but also to the public in Korea. “It is deteriorating the image of the culture and arts industry as a whole, resulting in a significant negative impact on the industry,” he complained.

He went on to say that severe punishment is needed to eradicate this kind of situation, and added, “I earnestly ask you to sound the alarm that even if the government hides behind anonymity, criminal acts have no choice but to be punished and held accountable.” He also called for “reorganizing the system against indiscriminate malicious comments, cyber defamation, and insulting crimes to provide a foundation for the continued development of Korea’s popular culture industry, which is reaching its peak around the world.”

The following is the full text of the pop music-related organization’s statement demanding strict punishment for malicious content creators.

-Statement-

We demand severe punishment for malicious content creators represented by ‘Taldeok Camp’.

The Korea Management Association, Korea Entertainment Producers Association, Korea Music Label Industry Association, and Korea Music Contents Association (hereinafter referred to as ‘popular music-related organizations’, in alphabetical order) are responsible for malicious content such as ‘Taldeok Camp’ that continuously harasses pop culture artists on YouTube and SNS. We earnestly appeal that the creator be severely punished.

Malicious content creators produce and distribute numerous videos that ridicule or insult artists based on provocative topics without verifying the facts. They use their anonymity to create malicious controversy and exploit the suffering of others to maximize their own profits. The public who encounters the content believes the information and criticizes the artist, which can even lead to a collective cyberbullying phenomenon. This not only causes damage to the artist and the agency, but also worsens the image of our country’s pop culture and arts industry as a whole, resulting in a significant negative impact on the industry.

In order to eradicate this situation, a thorough investigation and severe punishment by investigative agencies is needed more than anything else. Although the popular culture industry has made great efforts, our efforts alone have limitations. Accordingly, we sincerely ask our pop music organizations to sound the alarm that even if the government hides behind anonymity, criminal acts have no choice but to be punished and held accountable.

We also urge that the system against indiscriminate malicious comments, cyber defamation, and insulting crimes be improved to provide a foundation for the continued development of Korea’s popular culture industry, which is reaching its peak worldwide.

Our pop music-related organizations will also continuously seek ways to develop the overall pop culture industry and strive to help K-pop and K-content lead the world.

thank you
