At a press conference for the 28th Busan International Film Festival special program ‘Korean American Special Exhibition: Korean Diaspora’ held at KNN Tower in Centumseo-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan on the 6th, Steven Yeun said, “This strike is about speaking out to protect artists.”I took it off.

He continued, “The idea is to guarantee basic conditions to writers and actors,” and added, “There are many cases where there is no safety net for writers and actors.” He also said, “It’s a privilege just to be able to come here and talk about this. I don’t think it’s appropriate to have no safety net when a storm is coming and we’re so affected. I want to secure our future and secure a safety net.”.

Jonjo said, “If you look at the entertainment industry, there is something called automation,” and “Through that, humans are being replaced by machines, and humans are no longer able to do their jobs because of AI.”

He also confessed, “Art is about expressing the human mind,” and “If I watch a human drama, I want to see works written by people and storytelling about human experiences.”

He added, “In the field of art, machines should not take away the expressions that only humans can do,” adding, “The union wants to protect specialized fields that humans can do.” Jonjo emphasized, “The idea is to enable (humans) to continuously work, perform their work well, and produce better works.”

Meanwhile, this year’s Busan International Film Festival prepared a special program, ‘Korean American Special Exhibition: Korean Diaspora’. Director Lee Isaac Chung of ‘Minari’ (2020), which gave actress Yuh-jeong Youn the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 2021 Academy Awards, and Steven Yeun, another lead actor of ‘Minari’, Justin Jeon of ‘Pachinko’ (2022), director Kogonada, ‘Search’ (2018) Jonjo attended.
