[SPOTV News = Reporter Eunbi Yoo] ‘1947 Boston’, which tells the story of Korea’s first national marathoners, Son Ki-jeong and Seo Yun-bok, stood at the starting line with a huge sense of responsibility in their arms.

A preview and press conference for the movie ‘1947 Boston’ was held at the Lotte Cinema Konkuk University entrance in Seoul at 2pm on the 11th. Actors Ha Jung-woo, Im Si-wan, Kim Sang-ho, and director Kang Je-gyu attended the scene that day. ‘1947 Boston’ is a story about the challenges and thrilling journey of marathon runners to participate in international competitions wearing the Taegeuk symbol for the first time after liberation in 1947.

Ha Jung-woo, who played the role of Son Ki-jeong, the marathon legend who led the Boston Miracle in 1947, joked, “This is my first time thinking about the role of a director. When I was caught on the same screen with actor Im Si-wan, I thought I was getting older. Other than that, there was nothing special.”.

Regarding the acting point, he said, “I thought about the sense of responsibility that Teacher Son Ki-jeong felt for leading the team on this journey.” He added, “As a senior, I participated with the sole intention of participating in the competition wearing the Taegeukgi at least this time, and as an actor, I am also a part of Teacher Son Ki-jeong. “I went into the work with that in mind,” he said.

Ha Jung-woo, who played the role of marathon legend Son Ki-jeong, said, “Preparing for a work starts from the body, soul, and mind, but I don’t know much about the role of Mr. Son Ki-jeong, so I talked to the director and talked a lot about what kind of person he is.”The person who started the actions and words was Mr. Ki-Jeong Son. I worked on each take thinking about what feelings Mr. Ki-Jeong Son would have had in this situation. As those feelings built up, I could not easily fall off my feet at the scene of him going up to the podium at the Berlin Olympics. It felt like an actual experience. “When I heard this, I felt heavy and a solemnity that I had never felt before while filming,” he said.

Im Si-wan played the role of Seo Yun-bok, an indomitable marathoner who dreams of becoming the next Son Ki-jeong in ‘1947 Boston’. Im Si-wan said, “I thought I should approach the work with a sense of responsibility and the mindset that I should not be someone else to Seo Yun-bok.” He added, “Seo Yun-bok was the first player to enter an international competition wearing the Taegeuk symbol, and while I was working on the piece, I also represented the country with the Taegeuk symbol.” He expressed his sense of responsibility, saying, “I worked from the beginning to the end of filming with the mindset that I had to do it with the same mindset.”

Im Si-wan, who played the role of a marathoner and filmed running scenes throughout the movie, expressed his efforts, saying, “Because it was a running role, the running had to look professional. I trained professionally two months ago, and even during the filming of the work, I learned and received training from the coach.”

He said that he spent a lot of time on diet and exercise to keep his appearance in sync. “I always ate chicken breast and salad from the beginning of filming until the end. I also exercised every day and I didn’t want my muscles to look firm, so I exercised between cuts to keep my muscles strong.” “I tried to maintain the sense of expansion. I was trying to look like him, and when I measured my body fat on InBody, it was 6%,”he said.

Regarding the scene of crossing the finish line, which is the climax of the movie, he said, “Whenever I work on something, I try not to waste every moment and keep in mind that this moment will never come back. After this moment, it is a moment that will never come back, so I work as hard as I can. “I went into it thinking I had to do it,” he said.

Ha Jung-woo and Im Si-wan worked together for the first time in ‘1947 Boston’. Ha Jung-woo said to Im Si-wan, “I watched the time he spent preparing to play the role of Seo Yoon-bok, so I was emotional when filming the competition scene. I really wanted to support him. I think Seo Yun-bok will really like it because actor Im Si-wan expressed it well. “He praised it.

Im Si-wan also said, “While working with Ha Jung-woo, I felt like I met a very dependable older brother. He depended on me a lot while filming. Even though he was a director, he was more like a dependable older brother. He knew more about the world than me in many ways, including the world and film work.””You know. It was fun, so I filmed it with anticipation to see what kind of laugh point would come out at every moment,” he said, expressing his affection.

Sang-ho Kim took on the role of Nam-hyeon Baek, a financial guarantor who helps the national team in Boston. Sang-ho Kim said he shed tears after watching the movie. Regarding the role of Baek Nam-hyeon, he said, “He is a real person and played a big role in the Boston Marathon, but there wasn’t a lot of data. Still, actors have an instinct to imagine, so not having a lot of data may have been helpful.”revealed.

He continued, “I helped with the parts that I found interesting when I received the script, but I didn’t help blindly.” He added, “I imagined an individual who lived in that era. I hope it doesn’t damage his reputation, but there are some things that are expressed in a caricature, but that’s all my fault.” “Imagination,” he added.

Coach Kang Je-gyu said, “Seo Yun-bok was born as the youngest of three sons and three daughters, and grew up dreaming of becoming the next Son Ki-jeong even in poverty where he could not attend school. He overcame difficulties and ran toward his goal amidst difficulties, so he was the first to wear the Taegeukgi after liberation. “There is a sense of pride in running, but I think the challenge of human victory, of a person overcoming his dreams despite difficulties, stands out,” he said about the theme of the movie.

Regarding directing the character, Director Kang said, “I tried to portray Son Ki-jeong as a bit macho, stubborn, and proud. From Seo Yun-bok’s point of view, he feels like a father who is strict and has strong standards. In the case of Nam Seung-ryong, he is still a senior and like his mother, both Son Ki-jeong and Seo Yun-bok have difficult times. “He is a character who solves problems and provides support.”

Ha Jung-woo, who visited theaters with ‘1947 Boston’ immediately following ‘Unofficial Operation’, said, “I cannot be involved in the release date, but it was released during the summer and Chuseok. It is not the first time I have encountered this situation while filming and releasing a movie, so I accepted it well. “I decided to stick to my schedule well,” he said. He then expressed his hope, saying, “These days, the absolute number of audiences has not yet returned to what it used to be, so I just hope that everyone can work together to create good synergy. I just hope that our film will be of help in such things.”

Director Kang Je-gyu, a master of historical dramas such as ‘Shiri’ and ‘Taegukgi’, said, “Among the films I have made, there are many that deal with the past and history. After filming ‘Taegukgi’, I wanted to do a science fiction film and was preparing to do it, but ended up doing another film. “I thought about what it means to express. The conclusion was that looking into the future we have lived in is a good way to predict the future. As a result, I became interested in the precious footsteps of the past.”

Finally, director Kang Je-gyu said to young audiences who are not interested in historical works, “Recently, stories about the past are old-fashioned and uninteresting, and you may wonder if there is a need to talk about the past, but there are many precious stories and great people in history.”By looking at such lives, I can gain time to check whether I am living well and following the right path. If ‘1947 Boston’ helps young audiences recognize the fact that ‘looking back on the past can be both strength and courage’ “I hope so,” he added.

‘1947 Boston’, which was unveiled as the first runner in the upcoming Chuseok theater three-way battle, is scheduled to be released on the 27th.
