“The most Korean mystery thriller”… Netflix ‘Seonsan’, let’s look at the points to watch

‘Sansan’ is a Netflix series that depicts the story of a series of ominous events that unfold as a person inherits the land left behind after the death of his uncle, whom he had forgotten even existed, and secrets related to it are revealed. This is the directing debut of director Min Hong-nam, who worked with director Yeon Sang-ho as an assistant director on ‘Train to Busan’, ‘Telekinesis’, and ‘Peninsula’ and the film ‘Train to Busan. From ‘ to the Netflix series ‘Hell’ to the Netflix film ‘Jeong-i’, director Yeon Sang-ho, who has shown an unrivaled world of works in each of his works, drew attention by planning and writing the script.

As director Yeon Sang-ho said, “If you are a Korean, you have probably heard of a family fighting because of ‘Seonsan,’” ‘Seonsan’ is a familiar entity that touches the roots of Koreans. By adding the mystery-thriller genre to the medium of ‘Seonsan,’ viewers are constantly driven by the pursuit of the origin of the unusual events that occur after an unexpected prenatal inheritance.

The two directors said, “It is a work that drives tension through the eerie atmosphere of the picture itself and the unstable human emotions. “It will be more interesting if we focus on ‘Who is the culprit?’” (Director Min Hong-nam), “It will be difficult to predict because new cases will bloom again at points where we thought they were solved” (Director Yeon Sang-ho). ;’s genre appeal was chosen as a point to watch.

Director Min Hong-nam introduces ‘Seonsan’ as “a story about the family that is the foundation of humanity and that everyone has by their side.” Director Min Hong-nam, who believed that “everyone lives with at least one family problem,” gave each character in the play, including Seo-ha Yoon, Seong-jun Choi, Sang-min Park, and Young-ho Kim, a family history, completing the story into a story that can relate to anyone in the world. “A mystery thriller with a thematic awareness of ‘what kind of family is’ is ‘Seonsan’ Director Yeon Sang-ho, who was the “beginning of the project,” asks all of us questions about “what is family, and is family love always beautiful?” through characters entangled in evil relationships and desires due to prenatal care. As director Yeon Sang-ho has received warm support by sublimating Korean sentiments into a universal story of humanity in each of his works, we are looking forward to what kind of message he will surprise us with through ‘Seonsan’. In addition, regarding the surprising truth related to prenatal care revealed at the end of the work, director Yeon Sang-ho said, “It is an extreme form of questioning about the love of a twisted family,” further stimulating viewers’ curiosity.

Kim Hyun-joo, Park Hee-soon, Park Byeong-eun, and Ryu Kyung-soo of ‘Seonsan’ played the roles of an heir, a detective, and a half-brother who became entangled in the inheritance of a deceased child, creating explosive acting synergy with their inimitable personalities and excellent acting. Kim Hyun-joo takes on the role of Yoon Seo-ha, a part-time university lecturer who is looking forward to being appointed as a professor, but becomes embroiled in an ominous incident when she inherits a child due to the sudden death of her uncle. She leads the entire play with destructive energy and provides a strong sense of immersion. Park Hee-soon played the role of Choi Seong-jun, a detective with a keen sense of investigation who intuited and dug into the fact that a series of incidents were related to a prenatal inheritance, and Park Byeong-eun played the role of Park Sang-min, a detective squad leader who was Seong-jun’s junior and had a love-hate and inferiority complex towards him. Seong-jun and Sang-min are characters whose relationship is strained due to an incident in the past, and Park Hee-soon and Park Byeong-eun perfectly depict their complex relationship and emotions with solid acting skills. Ryu Kyung-soo plays Kim Yeong-ho, who is her half-brother and who holds her captive, claiming that he too deserves to receive her prenatal care, creating a constant tension throughout her relationship. In order to express Kim Young-ho’s strange atmosphere, you can look forward to the new appearance of Ryu Kyung-soo, who incorporated the habits of wild animals into his character and attempted to transform his appearance.

‘Seonsan’ will be released exclusively on Netflix at 5pm on the 19th.
