‘1947 Boston’, which tells the true story of a national hero, visits theaters during Chuseok.

On the 11th, a preview and meeting for the movie ‘1947 Boston’ was held at the Lotte Cinema Konkuk University entrance in Seoul. Director Kang Je-gyu and actors Ha Jung-woo, Im Si-wan, and Kim Sang-ho attended.

‘1947 Boston’ is a story about the challenges and thrilling journey of marathon runners to participate in international competitions wearing the Taegeuk symbol for the first time after liberation in 1947. ‘Shiri’ and ‘Taegukgi’ is a new film by director Kang Je-gyu, and is based on the real-life story of Korean marathon legend Son Ki-jeong and another hero, Seo Yun-bok.

Director Kang Je-gyu said, “We ask for your support and interest so that the film can convey a lot of hope and courage. There are many sports events. “What I felt while watching the movie ‘Race’ was that the mind, feelings, and movements of a marathoner running through a long tunnel of 42.195 km without any equipment or tools seemed to be all about challenging human limits,” he said, explaining the reason for choosing the marathon as the subject.

Ha Jung-woo transformed into coach Son Ki-jeong, a gold medalist at the 1936 Berlin Olympics and the man who led the Boston Miracle in 1947.

Ha Jung-woo said, “I think this is my first time playing the role of a director or a senior,” and added, “When I was caught on screen with Im Si-wan, I felt like I was getting older too.”

He continued, “Teacher Ki-Jeong Son led the team on a journey to the Boston Marathon, and he seemed to have a sense of responsibility. She must have participated in the Boston Marathon with a sense of responsibility for not being able to wear the national flag at the Berlin Olympics. As an actor, I also worked while thinking about Mr. Son Ki-jeong’s thoughts. “I talked a lot with the director about what kind of person Mr. Son Ki-jeong is,” he said.

About working with Im Si-wan, “We work really hard. I felt like an athlete. I watched the time Im Si-wan spent preparing to play the role of Seo Yun-bok. When filming the competition scene, my emotions naturally rose. I saw the finished version for the first time today. “I think Seo Yun-bok will like it because Im Si-wan acts and expresses himself so well,” he praised.

Im Si-wan played the role of Seo Yun-bok, a national representative for the 1947 Boston Marathon who dreams of becoming the next Son Ki-jeong. Through intensive practical training, he raised his body fat percentage to 6% and increased his synchronization rate.

Im Si-wan said, “I thought I couldn’t become someone to them. He thought he had to act with a sense of responsibility. Seo Yun-bok went to an international competition wearing the Taegeuk emblem for the first time, and at least while I was working on this project, I went into filming with the mindset that I would also have to wear the Taegeuk emblem and represent the country,” he began.

He added, “Because it was a running role, the running had to look professional. I received professional training 2-3 months before starting the project. “And I trained and filmed in my spare time until filming ended,” he explained.

He also said, “I prepared externally. The things I spent the most time on were diet and exercise. From the time he started filming until the end, he always ate chicken breast and salad and exercised every day. “I couldn’t lose my strong muscles, so I tried to maintain a sense of expansion by exercising in between cuts,” he confessed.

He continued, “I measured my body fat using InBody and it came out to be 6%. “It wasn’t her goal, but as she tried to resemble Seo Yun-bok, she saw the figure of 6% for the first time in her life and was amazed,” he added.

Im Si-wan said of Ha Jung-woo, “I feel like I’ve met a very dependable older brother. He used a lot of willpower while filming. He responded, “It was like a mentor-mentee relationship, but it was a little closer.”

Sang-ho Kim took on the role of Nam-hyeon Baek, a financial guarantor who helps the national team in the field.

He revealed that he did not have much data and said, “Actors have an instinct to imagine something. Not having a lot of data was actually helpful. What I thought would be fun after receiving the script was that Namhyun Baek helped, but not blindly. It was attractive. “I did it freely because there was no data,” he confessed.

Ha Jung-woo, who has expressed his desire to appear in Chuseok theaters following this summer, said, “This year, due to the circumstances, the release date was decided to be released in the summer and Chuseok, in a short period of time. “Because something like this has happened before, I just want to handle the schedule well,” he said.

He also mentioned the competing works ‘Cobweb’ and ‘Dr. Cheon’s Exorcism Lab: Secrets of the Snow Scenery’ and said, “It is a difficult situation because the absolute number of audiences has not returned to what it used to be. “But I hope everyone can join forces and create synergy,” he added.

‘1947 Boston’ will be released on the 27th.
