On this day, Heo Young-man said, “Do you usually go out to play with your only grandson?” He said he works with me. When asked, Lim Chae-moo replied, “My house is a playground, so I come here all the time.”

The ‘our house’ and ‘playground’ mentioned by Lim Chae-mu are none other than ‘Duri Land’. Duri Land, located in Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, is an amusement park that Lim Chae-moo has personally operated for 35 years since its opening in 1990.

It all started 35 years ago when an amusement park for children was opened in Yangju, where a drama was filmed. Lim Chae-mu’s maternal grandson has also passed on that affection from generation to generation, growing up in her maternal grandfather’s amusement park from the time he was born.

Lim Chae-mu said, “(Every vacation) my grandson comes in the morning and does everything. He boasted about his only grandson, saying, “He is a great guide and sociable, so he makes a lot of friends.” Lim Chae-moo’s only grandson said, “From now on, I have to help my mom 24 hours a day,”making her smile happily.

Their lunch was a country set meal where you could feel the generous hospitality of Yangju with as many as 15 basic side dishes. Three types of vegetables, three types of salted fish, stir-fried pork, grilled croaker, shepherd’s purse and soybean paste stew, and steaming rice in a stone pot filled the table. When soy sauce crab sauce appeared, the children’s eyes lit up and they emptied their bowls.

After filling their stomachs, they all headed somewhere together. It was Duri Land, a children’s paradise full of dreams and fantasy, a fairytale land created by Lim Chae-mu. Heo Young-man, who set foot in Duri Park, which boasts 35 years of history, expressed surprise, saying, “It’s quite big.” Lim Chae-mu, who heard this, seemed embarrassed and asked Heo Young-man’s grandson, “Have you ever been to an amusement park with your grandfather?”

In 1989, Lim Chae-mu saw the lack of children’s play facilities at the Jangheung National Tourist Site near Seoul, and was upset that there was no children’s facility even though it was a national tourist site in name, so he sold two apartments in Yeouido to create Duri Land. Duri Land, opened solely for the dreams and happiness of children, is an amusement park filled with Lim Chae-moo’s life. Since then, Lim Chae-mu has been running Duri Land for 35 years, racking up a huge debt of about 15 billion won.

In Duri Land, Lim Chae-mu, his grandson, Heo Young-man, and his two grandsons had an exciting time. The children couldn’t hide their laughter as they crashed into the bumper cars and cheered on the rides. Lim Chae-mu looked at the children with a happy expression.
