With SBS’s long-running current affairs and culture program ‘This Happens in the World’ at a crossroads, a post posted by a child viewer on a bulletin board has become a hot topic.

After news of the review of the program’s abolition broke on the 16th, posts opposing the abolition were posted on the viewer bulletin board of the ‘Oh My God’ website. It contained earnest cries from viewers, such as “This is one of the few good programs that can be watched with the family,” “Viewership ratings don’t tell the whole story,” and “This is a program that the MCs in the Guinness Book of World Records are proud of and have fun watching.” .

In the meantime, a photo of a handwritten letter that appears to have been written by a child was also posted in an article titled ‘Even 9-year-old children are absolutely against abolition.’ The writer is the mother of the child in question and said, “This is my favorite program from my mother and father’s generation to my daughter (1st grade). She said that her daughter was very sad and asked her to write a letter and send it to SBS. I would like to see three generations gather in the living room together in the future without being abolished. It is written, “Please withdraw the abolition.”

The child in the letter says, ‘Mister and uncle of the broadcasting station. Capture the moment Don’t let something like this happen in your life. This is my favorite program. Please (the broadcasting station ladies and gentlemen. Capturing the moment, don’t let something like this happen to the world. It’s my favorite program. Please),’ he wrote.

According to a statement released by SBS Current Affairs and Culture Headquarters PDs on the 15th, the PD in charge of ‘This is happening in the world’ was notified by CP of the program’s cancellation on the 8th. The reason is that the program is not competitive and costs must be reduced to reduce the deficit.

Accordingly, the PDs posted a message expressing ‘opposition to abolition’ on the SBS internal bulletin board. The PDs emphasized, “Now is the time to join forces to prevent ‘this kind of thing from happening in the world.’” and “The head of headquarters, directors, and CPs must keep their promise to prevent the abolition of this program, which is a symbol of the Current Affairs Education Center.” < /span>Tenasia Reporter Tae Yu-na youyou@tenasia.co.kr

Netizens’ positions on this are mixed. They claim that the decision to abolish it was based on market economic principles and that it is wrong to eliminate a symbolic program. One netizen said, “In the past, when they said they would abolish ‘country diary’, the reaction was the same as it is now. Don’t abolish it without actually looking at it. Some people responded, “Isn’t it like letting go of an old friend?” Netizens opposing the abolition appealed, “Why should we eliminate so many programs that families can watch together?”
