[M Today Reporter Lim Heon-seop] Porsche, with an average purchase price of over 100 million won, is on the rise.

It easily surpassed Toyota and Volkswagen, the world’s 1st and 2nd largest brands, and ranked 6th in imported car sales.

According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA), Porsche Korea’s sales from January to August recorded 8,290 units, a 39.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

It ranks 6th among imported cars following BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volvo, and Lexus. This is ahead of Toyota, which is ranked first in the global market, Volkswagen, which is ranked second, and Mini, which has maintained its unwavering fifth place.

Porsche’s average monthly sales this year is 2,072 units, and if this trend continues until the end of the year, annual sales are expected to reach 12,000 units.

Porsche is currently experiencing a backlog of reservations for most models, including the new Cayenne, scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter, which has been delayed for more than a year, and its fourth dealer, Seyoung Mobility, is scheduled to begin full-scale operations in October, so sales volume is expected to increase further.

Seyoung Mobility is the fourth Porsche Korea dealer following Racing Hong Group’s Stuttgart Sports Car Co., Ltd., KCC Auto Group’s Autostadt, and Deutsche Auto Group’s Deutsche Auto, and operates in Songpa, Jamsil, eastern Seoul, and Seongsu, Gangbuk. Responsible for Porsche sales and customer service.

Seyoung plans to open both the Porsche Seongsu and Songpa showrooms in the middle of next month and begin full-scale sales.

In particular, Seyoung is expected to have a significant impact on Porsche’s sales structure in the future, given that it will begin sales in the Seoul area, which accounts for about 70% of Porsche’s total sales.

Until now, the Seoul area has been monopolized by Stuttgart Sports Car, the largest dealer. In addition to Seoul, Stuttgart Sports Car also operates showrooms in Bundang, Pango, Incheon, and Busan.

Autostadt is in charge of sales in western Gyeonggi, including Ilsan, Daegu, and Daejeon, while Deutsche Auto is in charge of sales in southern Gyeonggi, including Deutsche Auto in Suwon, Changwon, Gyeongnam, and Gwangju, Jeollanam-do.

Prior to the opening of the official showroom, Seyoung Mobility has been selling vehicles through the ‘Porsche NOW Seongsu’ pop-up store in the Seongsu area of Seoul since November of last year.

Porsche Now Seongsu is the only Porsche pop-up store in Gangbuk, Seoul, and has recently emerged as a new hot place as Porsche customers from the Gangbuk area flock.

Meanwhile, Porsche Seongsu, scheduled to open in mid-October, will be built as a complex exhibition hall with the largest one-stop service among Porsche centers in the Seoul area, equipped with a new car showroom and a Porsche Certified Pre-Owned Car Center (POC).

In particular, Porsche Seongsu is equipped with cutting-edge facilities and equipment capable of sheet metal painting, and plans to provide the best maintenance service for Porsche.

The Seongsu area is a strategically important area connected to Gangbuk and eastern Seoul, and is a very important base in Porsche Korea’s strategy to strengthen nationwide services, and will provide customer service tailored to the brand’s growth rate.

The Porsche Songpa showroom, which will become a Porsche sales base in Songpa and Gangdong areas of Seoul, will also open at the same time.

Porsche Songpa and Porsche Seongsu will introduce sustainable building planning and operation systems.

All of Seyoung Mobility’s centers are preparing for green building certification and are creating a comfortable environment with reduced energy use through the use of new and renewable energy such as solar panels and greening work.

Seyoung Mobility CEO Jang In-woo said, “We will do our best to provide quality service and customer satisfaction through the Porsche business in the future.”
