[My Daily = Reporter Yang Yu-jin] Actor Kim Nam-gil showed strong confidence in action.

On the 19th, a production presentation for Netflix’s new original series ‘Thief: The Sound of the Sword’ was held at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. Attending the event were actor Kim Nam-gil, Girls’ Generation member and actress Seohyun, actors Yoo Jae-myeong and Lee Hyun-wook, model and actor Lee Ho-jung, actors Kim Do-yoon, Lee Jae-gyun, Cha Yeop, Cha Chung-hwa, and director Hwang Jun-hyuk.

‘Thieves: The Sound of the Sword’ is an action drama about people who come together to protect their precious people and their home in Gando, a lawless land where China, Japan, and people from Joseon gathered in 1920. It is a story of thieves, meaning ‘the sound of the sword’ rather than thieves who steal or rob others, and it exquisitely combines the Western genre with the time and space setting of Gando in the 1920s.

Kim Nam-gil transformed into Lee Yoon, the leader of a gang of thieves. Lee Yoon, who suffered from his past mistakes, is reborn from a slave to a Japanese soldier and then to a group of thieves, choosing to live a life so that he will no longer be deprived and suffer.

Seohyun plays the role of Nam Hee-sin, an independence activist disguised as the manager of the railway department of the Japanese Government-General of Korea, and Yoo Jae-myeong plays the role of Choi Chung-soo, a former leader of the righteous army and the spiritual leader of the Korean village and the bandits, as well as the handler of the Black Horn Palace and Hwando.

Lee Hyun-wook played the role of Lee Gwang-il, the master and youngest Japanese military major whom Lee Yoon served, and Lee Ho-jeong played Eon-nyeon, a ruthless gunman who kills people in exchange for money.

Kim Do-yoon, Lee Jae-gyun, Cha Yeop, and Cha Cheong-hwa show off their delightful chemistry as the bandits who control Gando and the businessmen of Myeongjeong Village. Kim Do-yoon will play Kang San-gun, a tiger-catching catcher, and will show off his amazing skills as a sharpshooter, while Lee Jae-gyun will play the role of Chorang, a former member of the Namsadang gang, leaving a mark as a scene-stealer.

Cha Yeop gained about 20 kg to play Geumsu, who overwhelms his opponents with a shotgun and two fists, and Cha Cheonghwa played the role of Kim Seonbok, a businessman in Myeongjeongchon, Gando.

Kim Nam-gil introduced Lee Yoon as “the leader of a band of thieves” and said, “He regrets his past mistakes, seeks a life of reflection, joins the bandits, and, as the leader, tries to protect his home and loved ones.”

Kim Nam-gil, who said, “A different story from the historical pain of the 1920s was combined with the Western genre,” said, “It contains the story of a group of people living in the 1920s,” and announced the reason for the profit.

You can see a variety of actions, from wilderness gunfights and horseback riding to bows, swords, axes, scythes, and bare-handed fighting. In particular, Kim Nam-gil doubles the splendor by freely handling Lee Yoon’s main weapon, a long gun.

Kim Nam-gil said, “As we advocated the Western genre, the attractive gun that best represented the era was the Winchester. We paid a lot of attention to the long take action. It will be fun to watch.”

‘The Thief: The Sound of the Sword’ will be released on Netflix on the 22nd with a total of 9 episodes.
